Why did you choose your username?

Why not?

Well, many years ago I wanted to make a Doctor Who themed username, put TARDIS and figured slap a number on there. It was originally 3, but there were two issues: One, people kept thinking I was ā€œTARDISE,ā€ whatever that means, and Two, TARDIS3 kept being taken. I thought 2 was a good subsequent number and TARDIS32 has been default since. If I need a third number because someone manages to take TARDIS32 first, it’s TARDIS326.

I’ve used 15th Doctor on all my DW related accounts since December 2007 when I rejoined Gallifey Base. At the time a 15th Doctor seemed like a ridiculously far away concept, and I suppose it was. It now feels a bit strange to have my internet identity based round a thing that solidly exists. Very happy to have a username associated with Ncuti though, of course!

I picked mine based off of A Good Man Goes To War. At the start, Rory and the Doctor blow up a legion of Cybermen and when I first watched it I thought they blew up the Ninth Cyber Legion but I rewatched it like last week and found out it was the 12th Cyber Legion/Fleet.

Ooh, so you’re actually the original 15th Doctor! The definitive article! The BBC should pay you royalties (or at least credit you next to Ncuti).

I think Ncuti has me firmly in mind when he plays The Doctor.

ive used some form of the name VampireSquid since about sixth grade because they were my favorite squid. Now its morphed into various forms like ā€œvamā€ or ā€œvammieā€ lol
Oh and if thats taken already, i usually put ā€œ68212ā€ at the end because that was the number sequence from my animal jam username when i was really little and i remember it

Mine wasn’t deeply considered. I tried a few things linked to my name but they weren’t accepted. I got frustrated and just tried to think of something Who-related that I didn’t think would be taken, and the scene in School Reunion when K9 tells Mickey to used the car as a battering ram came into my head.

Get lost Mickey! He’s worth 100 of you! Good dog.

Mines Dullish, cos it goes back to my original Xbox 360 name, Dullishcow7. It’s just stuck around.

Two reasons behind my username:

a) When my children were little, they thought I looked like the Ninth Doctor; and

b) I’m a research scientist with a doctorate

Put them together and my children decided that I was…

…the real Doctor.

Hence, I became… realdoctor online.

I remember you writing this earlier somewhere. I have been picturing you as a weird mix of the Ninth and Fourth Doctors ever since, and I don’t know if the resulting face is funny, scary or what!

Well, you can judge for yourself!

A very clever character, perfect for audio.

Funny/scary, yes. And definitely nothing like me!

Love seeing all those different Answers! I usually go by either just ā€œRandomā€ or ā€œRandomJokeā€. I remember I decide on that name like around a few years ago, I had way too often way too massive Usernames, be it on YouTube or other Sites. Furthermore, I think somebody once called one of my past usernames ā€œrandomā€ and at that time my English was pretty far away from where it is now, so I looked it up to find out the definition and I thought something like: ā€œHuh… interestingā€. And I think that got stuck for me that I eventually decide to go with it, since it’s a pretty simple word but does describe quite well I’d say.

Now about the ā€œJokeā€ Part of the Name, since on a Platform such as YouTube just calling yourself ā€œRandomā€ wouldn’t work, since it’s a common name in online spaces. I decided to add this Part in, it sounded the best and I like humor, so it works!

I am not entirely sure why I added here, guess I thought simply ā€œRandomā€ might be already taken, either way I don’t mind.

Ok now to explain my cumbersome name :joy:

Back when I was a teen, I was part of a joke PokƩmon roleplay group on Tumblr where I played Drayden from Black and White, and it kinda stuck as my online handle, even years after the group died off.

The BSCT origin is just as weird, if not weirder. Back at uni my friend group would have gaming sessions at our house, and at one of them someone mentioned that for years their friend thought Yoshi’s Circuit was called Yoshi’s Biscuit in Mario Kart, and was stubborn about this to the point of arguing. We all found this so funny we started calling our sessions ā€œBiscuitsā€. When I started doing Smash tournaments more, I thought it would be funny to have Biscuit as my joke sponsor, and shortened it to BSCT.

Eventually both parts combined to become BSCTDrayden and is now my online brand/username everywhere for parity, even though I actually go by Cram more these days

Edit/Addition: It’s always funny whenever I explain to folks that the BSCT is pronounced Biscuit cause they seem like they’ve suddenly had their mind blown, and things make more sense to them because until it’s explained it really does seem just like a random jumble of letters!

One other thing your username vaguely reminds me of is the Chronicles of Amber. Random is the name of one of Corwin’s brothers…

Oh? (I do have not experienced that series of books, so can’t comment if it’s a good thing or a bad thing :sob:)
Although appreciate that you told me, always interesting seeing what my name reminds people off!

I’d generally go for good. He gets a lot of character development in the course of the first five books…
