Why did you choose your username?

100% BSCT makes so much more sense now! I hate it when I can’t easily ā€˜read’ names in books because it stops the flow of my reading thoughts. I find this a real issue with some Doctor Who books (Paul Leonard, I’m looking at you), so the option to now read your name as BiscuitDrayden makes a huge difference to my inner monologue!

I don’t like DontBlink but I can’t think of any ideas for a new username

You could try a random username generator, and see if that sparks any ideas?

Blink?

Or better yet, Wink!

Thank you all for the suggestions, but I’m looking for something more reflective of me/my interests, rather than DontBlink which was just a generic Who related name I came up with because I needed a username

I used a random name gen from an MMO for my name, unfortunately I’m now cursed with a name nobody can pronounce .

Maybe something related to a nickname or running inside joke?

I have the same username for other sites, and I considered using it here but I wanted to pick a Doctor Who related one for the Doctor Who site  This way everyone will know I love Benny even before they talk to me

Here’s a tip for finding a username that I used back when I had to find one for World of Warcraft.

Take a look at obsolete words! You can find some really interesting words on lists like this, and people won’t know what it means.

I found on another list the word ā€˜Medioxumate’ which means a middling sort of god. It was the name of my Undead Warlock

Interesting thread lol,

My username is a pun.

Teslapunk is a literary genre of punk, like solarpunk, Atompunk, steampunk, cyberpunk etc. It is usually depicted as a socialist society with Victorian (or late 1800s) architecture, where electricity is free for all, and everything is powered by Tesla coils. Electricity is also free-flowing, wires do not exist. Energy is also not generated from coal or oil, it’s drawn from…the atmosphere/ionosphere…or something (?).

It does kinda cross over with steampunk abit. And there are references to it in games like BioShock and Fallout, biopunk, and Atompunk, where it’s just certain Teslapunk technologies rather than the society itself.

The pun part is, well, ā€œTeslaā€ and ā€œpunkā€. I made the name for a political account, and some people interpreted it as a play on words, with Tesla (the company) which is certainly not anarchist in any way lol. Also I liked exploring idealistic utopian ideas, which Teslapunk as a concept would fall into- especially when I researched into Post-scarcity societies. Electricity being free for all deffo falls into this.

The 3327 was Nikola Tesla’s room number in the New Yorker hotel, where he lived until he passed away. Another username I had was New_Yorker3327, but this just confused people when I said it was the name of a hotel and not where I’m from, so I renamed to Teslapunk (or nytesla).

(Deep apologies for the length, it’s a hyperfixation I’ve had for 8 years)

It’s a name from the Mormon Bible (not Mormon myself, I just saw it while playing Assassin’s Creed II and took a liking to it), and over the years, it’s taken on a symbolic meaning as me owning my status as an Other in most social and societal situations. When I started blogging online (about Doctor Who, funnily enough), I used it as my pen name and have stuck with it every since.

But now that I’m at the stage of writing officially under my government name, I’ve spent the last several years thinking about getting rid of it… but I’m not exactly proud of everything I’ve said under it, and I’m still wrestling with the notion of having all of that attributed to… the real me, I guess. Internet dissociation is a hell of a drug.

I really love the TARDIS. If I travelled with the doctor, I’d want to know everything about her and about TARDISs in general. Forget adventures, I’d be happy to just wander around the ship. Plus I’m a big fan of alliteration. When I started a DW tumblr that’s the url I chose, and I just sort of transplanted it here.

Funny story for anyone who remembers homestuck: within 48 hours of setting up my tumblr blog, someone sent me an anonymous ask (I’d been on Tumblr for 8 years and it was the first time I’d ever gotten one). They asked me if I knew Tardis-Technician was a valid chum handle. I didn’t know what was funnier: that someone immediately noticed, the fact they felt it was so important they had to send an ask making sure I knew, the fact they asked it anonymously, or the fact that I hadn’t thought about it at all when making the DW blog, but I actually DID have an old tumblr blog at one point where I very consciously made my url a valid chum handle, because I loved homestuck when I was 13.
