Started the Target book: The Romans. It is great. But Dan Starkey plays the Doctor as Strax which is a bit annoying.

This is a common problem with most things narrated by Dan Starkey. He often sounds a lot like Strax, which is very distracting to to me.

Ohh do you recon Paul Grist would come out of acting retirement and narrate Doctor Who books with his Bill Filer accent???
Alternatively, someone point me to an AI that will do a credible job at just that

He’s 85, though, so he might not have a lot of time left.
Maybe AI is the better option here.

I usaly dont mind that much but I do in this. It is written as diaries from different people and is narrated by different persons depending on who’s diary. The Doctor is written a bit like Strax in this and it makes it more confusing.

I most say that it is one of the best Classic Target books I have listened to. I like it more than the episode.

Been playing a bit of catchup and slowly making my way through Jenny 3. I think this series is INCREDIBLY fun and one of the few (alongside Missy, The War Master, UNIT, and Dark Shadows if it ever returns) that excepts my “only purchases that have the Doctor in them” rule. This set is no different. Was I upset that they undid Noah being made into COLT-5000 almost immediately? Yes! I think there could have been something very fun with a cyborg Noah. The arc in this box is also very fun. Jexebel is absolutely despicable and I’m eager to see how it ends!

Starting 2025 off with listening to New Benny Vol 5.
Just finished “Pride of the Lampian”. Benny and the Unbound Doctor are just becoming one of my favourite TARDIS teams, their friendship is just so amazing.
The story was really good - continuing the consistently high quality of scripts this series has had so far.

The Stuff of Legend
Finally got around to fnding time in my listening schedule for this one. Solid fun and I bet it was a corker to see the stage read through version. The highlight for me, without a doubt, was Alex Macqueen’s excellent Master. Playfully arch and thoroughly wicked. Just great!
And, since I’m mentioning the Master…
Half way through Master! 1.1 Faustisan.
Wow! I’m absolutely loving it. Welcome back to the role, Eric Roberts. A great performance that shows why he was excellent casting in the first place. There’s real menace in his portrayal so far and I’m thoroughly enjoying the story. It’s a simple yet strong concept. The tension builds nicely and the supporting characters are well written and portrayed with skill. I’m so looking forward to finishing this story when I have chance, later today. How come it has taken me so long to discover how good this is?
