Jeg kan desuden stadig ikke lide Tidens Ende og kan slet ikke lide det når dansker kalder vores hovedperson Doktoren, men sådan fungerer dansk flertal i grammatik.

It’s not Greek shauny, it’s quite clearly Swedish that @Tian writes in, it’s a completely different alphabet I’m also happy and smug that I could easily understand what was written in Swedish! Which is good because my youngest little sister is getting married to a Swede at Doctor Who Day in Stockholm this year.
Furthermore, I still don’t like Tidens Ende and I don’t like it at all when Danes call our main character the Doctor, but that’s how Danish plurals work in grammar.

And a little last sentence in Danish:
“Father sheep sheep sheep? No, sheep sheep ik’ sheep, sheep sheep lamb"
This part makes no sense in English! It’s a play on words (“får” meaning both “sheep” and “to get/receive” or in this context “to give birth”) that only works in Danish (and Swedish, as it’s almost the same thing).
In Swedish, it would be: “Får får får? Nej, får får inte får, får får lamm!”
There’s a similar thing in Finnish (and I swear that this is proper Finnish):
"Kokoo koko kokko kokoon. Koko kokkoko kokoon? Koko kokko kokoon!
Summary
This would translate to: “Put together the whole bonfire. The whole bonfire? (Yes,) the whole bonfire!”
I love the richness of the Scandinavian languages!
Interesting. My English teacher used to teach us some of these (such as the “She sells sea shells” classic) but this isn’t one I have come across before!
By the way, one thing I love about being a bilingual Scandinavian is that I could live and work pretty much anywhere in Scandinavia and do just fine. I speak Finnish and Swedish fluently and while I can’t write or speak Danish or Norwegian, I can usually understand written/spoken Danish and Norwegian well enough to figure out what is being said. That’s because they’re so close to Swedish.
Discussion on languages above make me think of the fact that Chinese translation of ‘Doctor Who’ is ‘神秘博士’, which is literally ‘Doctor Mysterio’. Then Christmas special The Return of Doctor Mysterio happend, and I was so confused by the title in the like first 30min of the sp that I stopped to check why the title is something like ‘The Return of Doctor Who’ which made zero sense at the time.
It’s such a shame that the ‘I’m the Doctor’ ‘Doctor Who?’ ‘Exactly!’ joke doesn’t work in Chinese. On the other hand, imagine a fan with surname 胡(Hu) receive their doctorate.
BF dropped some details about the next 8th Doctor box set in December. There are three new stories with Charley and Audacity, one of them (Puccini and the Doctor) written by Matthew Jacobs, who wrote the TV movie! And this is his first piece of DW media since 1996!

I suppose it is time for me to watch the two recent Dune movies then. I have only seen the David Lynch from 1984 and the mini-series from 2000/2003.
From the trailers I haven’t been quite convinced by the new Paul Atreides and Chani (Zendaya), have anyone seen the new ones and are they any good?
My favourite football team just got drawn against The New Saints from Wales in the Uefa Conference league. Feels like an opportunity to go to Cardiff for Doctor Who stuff and then go to the game. I hope that it fits in my life to travel to this.
It’s just occured to me that I never actually know what to say in this chat.
I end up typing something out or sharing something, and then I’m just like “this has no relevance to Doctor Who in any form”, even though this is the free for all chat.
