To be honest I think River Song’s stuff isn’t suitable for the club because it’s all one-off stories, no companions, no character development. Just fun. Doesn’t really make for good discussions like something like Gallifrey.
I wouldn’t say they are required as such, but The Apocalypse Element and Neverland set up how Romana is back on Gallifrey, and Zagreus sets up Leela and Romana being bffs forever. But as I say, as long as you know Leela lives on Gallifrey and Romana is President, you don’t need anything else.
FYI, for people who don’t yet own Gallifrey (seeing as it looks like it’s going to win, save a last minute surge for Kaldor City…), the download bundle of the first four stories is only £16 which is a saving of £4 on their individual £4.99 pricing. If you think you’ll fall in love as @sircarolyn predicts, then Series 1-3 are £50 as a bundle - that’s 12 stories in total.
Why so early? I thought we were going to wait until after Zagreus. Sorry I’ve been so quiet on here recently, but I have been in the middle of moving house, so I’ve not had much time to post on here. I’ve got incredibly behind with all the clubs, but still have a backlog of ones that I have completed but not posted on as well. So I’ll just do my own thing anyway and get to Gallifrey when I’m ready
We were originally going to have a pause with the main range while we did Gallifrey, but instead they are running side by side.
Of course it doesn’t matter if it takes you a while to get to it, people will still read your thoughts! We have people only now posting about the very first ones and it’s fine
I have 22 unread threads of Audio Club that I need to get to. I’m not worried because I know people will still interact with my hot takes well after the fact.
Oooh, I’d get stressed out from seeing those many unread topics! I usually just mark them read and return to them later if I don’t have the opportunity to interact with them while they are fresh.
I’m way behind on all the clubs with audio being the club I’m most up to date with. That said, I usually at least skim if not outright read everything on here. Having unread anything drives me nuts. Having as many unread threads as @ItsR0b0tNinja would drive me absolutely insane.
Having unread things drives me nuts too but I don’t want to enter the thread, have it marked as read, and then forget about it. So I’ve just learned to live with the unread for now, and will return to them all when I have time!
Edit: this one driving me the most mad but I don’t want spoilers!!
I can’t leave any threads unread but that’s partly because I feel it my moderator duty to make sure everyone is playing nicely .
That said I do skim some - @realdoctor’s excellent ‘What makes a monster’ thread is one I keep meaning to sit down and read properly so I can respond with thought and consideration - rather than making some sarky comment about shauny’s holidays, the real and present danger of Scandinavia ruling the world or threatening to ban anyone who has a bad word to say about Delta and the Bannermen. I’ve yet to manage that!
Tss tss, you should know your forum better That’s why we have this neat little feature that allows you to bookmark threads so that you can return to them later.
Thanks for the shout-out on this thread, @deltaandthebannermen. I’ve been really busy of late and had little opportunity to post on here, but I am working on my evaluation of the Ice Warriors (as presented in their original story) and their claim to true monsterdom. It’s coming… butt on the other thread that @deltaandthebannermen mentioned.
I’m kinda sad to see people jumping off the Gallifrey bandwagon already. I understand that Square One has its issues, but there’s so much better stuff coming up in this series.
On a slightly different note, I have as much scheduled in advance as I can across all the clubs. Extras of course are impossible to schedule in advance until they’ve been decided. (Such questions as: Do we continue straight into Gallifrey Series 2 or insert something else in the Extra Club next? How long of a gap do we have between runs of Audio Club Extra?) The primary Friday Audio Club is where 2025 scheduling has stalled out I think as early as January when we hit Zagreus.
I am of course not trying to rush our fearless High Council. I’m appreciative of all that they do to keep this place civil. And of course, @shauny is often quite busy with the actual Guide. And of course, I understand that everyone has a real life to live. I have a lot fun here and as I’m autistic, I tend to obsess over things. I have talked to @deltaandthebannermen in more detail about where my plug-n-play schedule has hit road blocks. Anyway, I really enjoy this forum and hope it continues for many years to come.
