Being an American Doctor Who fan, I am the only person I know who watches this show for anything other than David Tennant. Certainly the only Classic Who fan and people look at me as if I’ve developed an extra head when I mention expanded media. Looking forward to discussing on this forum and eventually posting an entire essay about who my favorite doctor is only to end with the conclusion that I love all of them.
Welcome. And I think you’ll find that Sylvester McCoy isn’t considered underrated at all. Heck, deltaandthebannermen is Shauny’s right-hand man[1]. While McGann is my favorite, McCoy isn’t far behind and his last two seasons are some of my favorites. Feel free to jump around and stick your fingers into any thread that catches your interest. If you’re a McCoy fan, might I suggest the seventh-doctor tag as a good starting point?
Welcome! This is definitely the place to go if you want to talk all things Doctor Who. I’ve yet to see anyone mention an episode/book/comic/audio that at least one other person didn’t know, no matter how obscure. Glad to have you here!
Hello fellow American Who fan! You are not alone! I actually grew up with the classic series and Seven has always been one of my favorites! And Ace, of course, such a wicked team! Welcome and I hope you enjoy hanging out here! ^^
Welcome to TARDIS Guide. Your time space travel pod has brought you swirling through the vortex to the best place for discussions of Doctor Who (and spin offs… and other stuff). I Hooe you enjoy! You’ll find people who champion every different era and plenty who champion them all! Every story has its fans and you’ll see passionate defences of stories that traditionally have a bad reputation as well as deep discussions about those that are more highly regarded. This is a truly great place to chat and just enjoy the Whoniverse in a whole different light. I look forward to reading your posts on the various threads.
Welcome, @Mercury. Sly isn’t underrated in these parts, but I’m sure he probably is amongst the wider public perception of the end of the classic series. I think his particular strength was in portraying the darker, sadder side of the character. Sylvester was an accomplished clown when he took on the role, but it’s the more tender and subtle moments where I think he really shone in the role.
Welcome, I have to say that when pressed for a favourite Doctor I always say McCoy. Never really felt that he was underrated here, I think he’s given the proper admiration he deserves.
I have a lot of love for Ghost Light. I can appreciate that Remembrance of the Daleks and Curse of Fenric are probably better episodes but the atmosphere of Ghost Light is genuinely beautiful.
Choosing a favorite companion is more difficult than I thought it would be. I think Clara’s arc is great and Sarah Jane is so iconic she got her own show…
Oh wait K9 that’s the correct answer. If you offered me a future season where we get no human companion and it’s just The Doctor and K9 I would be thrilled
