I was meant to go to the BFI for The Happiness Patrol today but I’m still in bed because my back is in so much pain. I hurt it a bit last Sunday and think i just slept really awkward today

Our weekend has been thrown out of whack as my daughter broke her arm at her trampolining class this morning. She’s currently at the hospital with my wife, dosed up on pain meds. Not sure but listening to the paramedics, it sounded like it was a bit of a messy break - through the skin and everything (didn’t look as I’m terrible with blood and stuff). My wife went into full on first aid/mum mode so I’ll need to make sure she’s okay when they finally get home.
On the plus side, my daughter has always wanted to go in an ambulance and she achieved it today with full blues and twos going as well.

One of the guys I work with that I’ve had a crush on for a while. I tried talking to him this morning - something I’ve not done before because I always thought he was way out of my league, even though another colleague told him I like him.
Literally only managed to say “morning” to him. He smiled at me sweetly and said “morning” back… at which point I felt like my legs were gonna give way because holy mother of god, he actually didn’t pie me off immediately.
Hopefully this means I can be a bit more confidenct and engage in actual conversations round him now, rather than seeming like some shy moron.
Suffice to say, was a good shift this morning.

So my daughter is having to have plates put into her arm as it’s a pretty bad break. She’s in hospital overnight with my wife and hopefully have the surgery first thing tomorrow. She’s not happy that she’ll be prevented from sport for at least 3 months!

Back off up to the hospital and hoping she get’s discharged later this afternoon. She was in surgery for 2 and half hours and is now very grumpy and sleepy. My wife is exhausted as she stayed overnight with her but hopefully everyone can be back in their own beds tonight and try to catch up on rest. Just the long road of recovery now which she will find
hard and frustrating.

Home from hospital and now trying to sleep with her arm elevated to help with swelling in her hand.
Not the greatest of weekends and the next two are absolutely sodding packed with activities as it’s both mine and my eldest’s birthdays in the next couple of weeks and it’s the inaugural TARDIS Guide meet up and BF Live and taking my eldest and four of his friends to Phantom Peak and going to see Beetlejuice 2 for his friend’s 16th and I go back to work tomorrow…
and I’ll be glad when September has finished!

With elections in the two “Bundesländer” (ChatGPT tells me for UK folks that’s comparable to countries) Saxony and Thuringia, Germany has made the next step to the far (far) right. For so many years, I thought it was not possible. Of course, there were always fringe parties, but overall, the conservative people were more or less solid in the center-right of the political spectrum. To an extent, I do understand the frustration with the big, established parties. But I also truly believe that voting for the far right makes everything just so much worse. Disconcerting times.

First day of the semester, found out two of my favorite shops in the first floor of school cafeteria #2 are gone, along with a bakery I loved. I tried one of the new shops for lunch just now and it’s so awful. They are doing, like, everything wrong. The serving is also so small. Now I’m waiting for the water to boil so that I could have instant noodles.
We have three cafeterias, each with two floors so that’s still five lunches away from finding what awful things have happened to them during the summer holiday.

My back is badly inflamed and I’m using a gel to help it get better and have missed 2 days of work because of it. Hoping it will be better for my shift tomorrow.
