I guess I’ve only really heard people call it fizzy drink

My wife makes the best chilli. I’ve no problem with spice although I don’t particularly like it too hot.

Oh and tacos - I bloody love tacos.

We call soda soft drink over here in wee Australia

I’ve heard that too and use it sometimes with non-Scots, but I was brought up calling it juice. Looked online and apparently that’s more an east/central belt thing which checks out.

I love calling it juice to my English friends and them getting pissed off at it

But juice is a different thing. That is just confusing.

Okay, I can wind up more people now apparently; not solely my English friends :eyes:

Oh here we are with another crisps/chips/fries/pommes situation - I have no idea what to call soda/fizzy drink/pop/juice/soft drink now :joy:

Everything is chips, you differentiate them with context

SAMEEEEEEEEEE oh my god :sob: always super funny. My partner, despite English being his second language, gets wound up by it a lot :sob:

A few months ago I accidentally slipped up and called them chips when talking in English… I felt like I had betrayed all my ancestors. That said, the slip up is because in French, it is chips which makes it even more confusing for my brain :sob:

I legit don’t care what people call fizzy juice because of the fact that it’s so individual dialect heavy  though I like the term “pop” it makes it sound like we’re in the 1920s but without all the problematic stuff

Juice is even called juice in Swedish! It is just wrong!

I’ll accept non UK people calling crisps chips but if any UK folks within the UK do it it’s on sight

What did you call chips? The flat crispy ones or the long ones?
