What Are You Currently Watching?

NuWho is gone from Amazon Prime so I’ve been watching classic instead. Almost glad I can’t watch new anymore because because of that; I today saw the Paul McGann TV movie!

I get why normal people would say its bad. Its chaotic as all hell, has every cliche in the book and the story itself isnt particularly interesting from an outsiders point of view. But you know we’re not normal. We’re Doctor Who fans. And it’s amazing Doctor Who. So much camp. So so much delicious camp. What if Doctor Who got possessed by American filmmaking and went completely nuts with the hamminess. Amazing. From the Master calling Lee the son he never had to that sleep inducing 5 minute chase scene to the regeneration being Frankenstein. I love it all. It’s so stupid. It’s perfect.

I love the Doctor Who TV Movie. It’s a great example of 90’s camp TV films.

The TV Movie is great, and McGann is the best thing about it. That said, I’m kind of glad that it didn’t spawn a series.

the TV movie is the greatest film ever and I am devastated that we never got a true 90s vibes Paul McGann series. It could have been so good :sob:

To go along with my re-reading of the novelisation, i’m currently going through Shada on the iPlayer. It helps that they have the episodic version rather than the feature length version

Just watched “The Time Warrior”.
When written well the Sontarans are really great and a lot of fun, and oh my giddy aunt does Robert Holmes write them well right from the very start. That quick, witty dialogue that Holmes used as his bread and butter just flows throughout this story.

“Invasion” next :+1:

Nothing at the moment, but recently watched the new episode. And before that I finished City of Death. Has to be one of my absolute favourite Classic Who episodes. It has one of the best camera work I’ve seen in the entirety of Doctor Who

Just finished Day of the Doctor again as my friend was watching it for the first time: never fails to give me goosebumps. Onto The Keys of Marinus part 6 tomorrow, been really enjoying it so far

The Keys of Marinus is an underrated serial for me. It’s one of the better Terry Nation scripts.

I just started The Web of Fear.

Yesterday watched the first episode of Spearhead from Space! Really fun Robert Holmes’ script and a good semi-reboot within classic show (pretty much like series 5 with 11th, series 10 with 12th and series 11 with 13th)

Hey, welcome to the forum, if you want, head on over to Introductions to properly introduce yourself!

Absolutely agree that spearhead is just a really fun semi-reboot, its where I started going back to watch classic in order from (really need to keep going with that)

I finished The Web of Fear. I didn’t expect it to be a continuation of Abominable Snowmen I also was really surprised when I heard the name Lethbridge-Stewart the first time of the episode, I really didn’t expect him there.
I now am continuing on with Fury from the Deep.

It’s brilliant to see someone coming to classic episodes without the foreknowledge of what is in them. To be surprised by stories being sequels or featuring familiar characters from later in the run must be wonderful and a pretty unique experience in this day and age of info about Doctor Who being there at the touch of a button or the swipe of a finger.

Agreed. Makes me wish I didn’t know so much beforehand when I first watched Classic Who. I had spent so much time reading wiki articles and stuff that a lot of things were spoilt for me. I did know about Lethbridge-Stewart showing up in The Web of Fear, for instance.
