Been doing a bunch of whatever last week. Wonka, some Blake 7, Red Dwarf and misc first 3 doctors. Way my head been lately not able to concentrate the greatest on any audios and tv is pretty much just noise atm.
Just rewatched The Curse of Fenric, this time the Special edition. It was good, though the editing on that one is a bit odd. Feels like the story could use some breathing room in parts. Good story though, perhaps not as much my favorite as other parts of fandom.
I’ve convinced a friend to watch all of the Revival with me. The next episode to watch is The Lazarus Experiment.
That’s the next one on my Modern Who rewatch as well shudders . Season 2 still just does not work for me, so I’m telling myself I’m doing it to up my Whodle game
Use it as an excuse to write reviews of the stories.
Try to write 5 positive things and 5 negative things about each episode
Good luck!
Last night I was supposed to be watching Terror of the Vervoids, the standalone edit on the season 23 Blu-ray. I only got as far as the end of part one before other things got in the way though.
I’m enjoying it a lot though, I already liked it but it’s interesting how the removal of the trial scenes and giving it new opening/closing sequence really does make it feel like it came from another world, where we got a full season of standalone adventures with the Sixth Doctor and Mel. I wouldn’t wish away a minute of McCoy era, but I wish it happened!
Commodore Travers being an old friend of the Doctor from a past, unseen adventure serendipitously adds to that feeling, I always like when the series does that and I like the dialogue that alludes to a past adventure, I can only imagine with the Sixth Doctor and Peri in another timeline’s season 23.
Probably a convenient place to address the elephant in the room, or the woman with the memory of one, Mel! I love season 24 through and through but it really does just abandon the skillset Terror of the Vervoids establishes for her, and I can’t help but wonder how ingrained her memory, computer science skills and fitness fanaticism would’ve been ingrained into her character had there been another season with her and Colin Baker. It’s a shame because had these things been more present in the show I think she’d be much better remembered for it.
I really do wish we’d gotten that extra season of her with Colin, while not wanting to sacrifice any of McCoy’s run. She was definitely a more interesting character in Terror…
After my partner and I are done shopping, we’ll be moving onto The Chase as we continue our ‘Classic Who From The Beginning’ run.
Why @shauny it appears as if I’ve been telling an untruth The Lazarus Experiment wasn’t next up, it was The Idiot’s Lantern… Mark Gatiss is still involved in that one at least… Though having just seen that one I might still struggle to find 5 positives
I was wondering why you were wittering on about Series 2 and assumed it was a typo…
My mind was probably too busy coming up with laboured “Droll Kroll” rhymes Nothing rhymes with Myfanwy or Pterodactyl is what I’ve come up with
Decided to watch Dreamland if only to get it off my front page (yes, I know I can turn off tracking for it). I’m less than a minute in and I’m already dreading the rest. The animation is truly awful.
I’m so so sorry for you
May a deity be on your side. I watched it last week…that’s an hour I won’t get back.
Doing a proper binge today.
Started at The Idiot’s Lantern and am currently on Army of Ghosts…
I’m halfway through The Ribos Operation - Romana I isn’t quite what I expected (but then I don’t really know what I expected)
It wasn’t as bad as I was led to believe. Still only one star, though. Here’s my review:
