I finished the Time Warrior, which I enjoyed a lot. And I watched the first part of Invasion of the Dinosaurs, which I think was very intriguing.

Invasion of the Dinosaurs is hugely underrated - ignore the shonky dinosaurs and there is a brilliant Malcolm Hulke script in there.

Watched Ark in Space Part 2 during lunch and Part 3 during supper. Very good Who. Who knew that green bubble wrap could be such an effective effect?

I’ve thrown my back out so I am sofa bound until I can get to a chiropractor this afternoon.
That does mean that I can have some Who on: Horror of Fang Rock! 3 episodes in and by the Black Guardian’s sacred fancy Bird Hat it is just as good as I remember it being.

Loved that one and in my eyes the dinosaurs are a plus!

I quite like the dinosaurs. They have character and the model work around them is pretty impressive.

Love Invasion of the Dinosaurs, really great script - I would expect nothing else from Malcolm Hulke.
But yeah the dinosaurs, the T-Rex especially, are Taran Wood Beast/Myrka quality in execution…

Am enjoying a nice holiday so I watched two stories in the past two days - Dalek Invasion of Earth and Revenge of the Cybermen.

Really liked DIOE a lot more than I expected - here’s a link to my review of it for those interested (Review of The Dalek Invasion of Earth by JustAsPlanned · TARDIS Guide).

Revenge, on the other hand… I am quickly becoming convinced that alongside the Daleks, classic who Cybermen, onscreen at least, are FRAUDS (unless they’re against Troughton). Like, seriously, every classic Cybermen story I’ve seen other than Tomb has ranged from alright-ish (Silver Nemesis and Earthshock) to terrible (This and Attack)! I can only hope that Tenth Planet, Moonbase, Wheel and Invasion can redeem them else I’ll be deeply disappointed

That’s because it’s brilliant!

SARAH: (As the Doctor opens the TARDIS) What do you plan to do in there?

DOCTOR: Make myself a cup of coffee. Good day to you!

…and…

I LOVE “Invasion of the Dinosaurs”. Sure, it get ridiculed for the dinosaurs themselves (and, admittedly, they’re a pretty ropey bunch), but it’s a great story with an interesting moral message and a lovely twist. Anyone who watches DW can surely forgive the occasional dodgy monster. It’s the ideas and stories that keep drawing us in… and this one’s a doozy. Gotta love Malcolm Hulke’s approach to morally complex characters and motivations. Fantastic stuff!

Can we really show this pre-watershed? I mean, looks like T. rex is getting pretty intimate with “Bronty” there!

Finished The Moonbase this morning - it really does get very silly towards the end what with scientists attempting to plug a hole in a protective dome with a jacket and then using a tea tray when that, surprisingly, fails - and then the image of the Cybermen floating off into space.

The accompanying making of has Anneke Wills and Frazer Hines enthusing about the story which is very sweet but I’m not 100% convinced by Anneke’s defence of Polly making all the coffee.

The script makes you forget about the bad dinosaurs. One of my favorite storys of that era.

There we go. Finished Ark in Space. Great story. It’s Doctor Who does Ridley Scott’s Alien four year early.

I finished Invasion of the Dinosaurs. I think it was awesome and I enjoyed it a lot.
I also finished Death to the Daleks which I also enjoyed a lot, it wasn’t as good as the serial before it though.

Finished rewatching all of Peter Capaldi’s era. As I suspected, I think my issues are mostly due to issues I have with the scripts. His Doctor I very much enjoy, mostly, though I could do without the guitar playing and “dude” and sonic sunglasses.

But it’s things like the companions…Clara dies and continues to appear and gets a magical escape at the moment of her death. Bill dies and continues to appear and gets a magical escape at the moment of her death. Nardole…well, he’s never introduced.

Capaldi also came after Matt Smith, whose performance I think is so brilliant, he’s a tough act to follow. Anyway, plenty of good material in PC’s seasons, well worth the rewatch.

Rose “dies” and continues to appear and gets a magical escape at the moment of her death.

Donna “dies” and continues to appear and gets a magical escape at the moment of her death.

Amy and Rory “die” and continues to live, we don’t see them after but I live in hope.

It’s a New Who meme at this point.

But I’d take any of those endings any day over what they did with Graham, Ryan, and Dan…

(Martha is cool, hope to see her again one day, at least she carried on at UNIT and Torchwood)

I am just being Mr. Opposite Opinions to shauny today.
I really feel like Chris Chibnall is the only New Who showrunner that has made proper companion endings. I know that is a matter of taste, but to me the Chibnall era leans a bit more closely to the Classic era on this front - and that just really appeals to me.
Dan’s ending might be my favourite companion exit to date :slightly_smiling_face:
