& then will we watch this zygon thing???
Not ready to finish The Chase , gotta say goodbye to Barbara and Ian
Watching Death Comes to Time and why is this SO long
Watched The Three Doctors… yeah it’s pretty good.
Oh, you want more? Okay, enough of my BS, this one was fantastic… mostly. It’s the first ever multi-Doctor story and it does it quite wonderfully, even if it’s not so much “The Three Doctors” as it is “The Two Doctors, as well as a third one occasionally”. Three and Two work great together, the concepts here with the antimatter universe and everything is very fascinating and it’s just fun in general. Even over 50 years later you can tell it’s an anniversary story so you can play things a little looser.
Omega is a great villain, he’s bombastic, he adds to the lore of the Time Lords and Gallifrey (which somehow isn’t named here instead it takes until next season in a random line lol), there’s even some nuance with him. He’s big and bombastic but is more cordial when he talks to Three about the possibility of leaving. And when that fails he almost starts crying, which is understandable if you’ve lived in your own world for thousands of years trying to get back home and then find out you can’t.
So yeah he’s cool and he should totally return later at some point, I’m sure they’d pull it off well.
For my negatives, there are a number of them but they don’t hurt the score too much. One is that One (as in the First Doctor) is only on that screen in this story. I get why they did it this way (Hartnell’s health and all that) but it’d be lovely if he could have been beside the other two Doctors just for one scene. Two is that the Brigadier comes across a little naïve here, even if he doesn’t understand all the Time Lord stuff I don’t get how he just refuses to listen to Two’s explanations. Even later he denies that they’ve been moved to Omega’s universe, I feel like he should’ve accepted it due to the weird circumstances everyone was already in. And finally… Mr. Ollis felt very superfluous and he could have been cut from the story, really.
Overall, great story, 9/10.
Logopolis, aka Doctor Who and the Planet of the Old White Men Who Like Sums.
Just watched The Airzone Solution. It was okay, some nice ideas but its just a shame its a one off, it could’ve led to more.
Not much left on this badge quest!
Or, that other time half the universe was destroyed people don’t talk about…
So, I completely accidentally watched Zygon: When Being You Just Isn’t Enough. And then I completely accidentally wrote a review.
I had zero expectations going in, and to be fair, it wasn’t as bad as I had thought. It’s incoherent, amateurish, and very awkward. Is it unwatchable? No. Do I want to watch it again? No. Do I regret watching it? No.
Also, it’s definitely not an adult movie in any shape or form. There’s nudity and a little sex, but it’s so awkward and juvenile that it’s ridiculous more than upsetting. There’s some violence here that is much worse.
I give it 4/10.
Zygon: When Being You Just Isn’t Enough is a curiosity at best and a chore at worst. It’s a film desperate to be edgy and insightful, but ends up feeling like a muddled, misguided attempt to do The X-Files with a dash of erotic thriller, and none of the competence of either. There are seeds of good ideas—Zygon identity crisis, coded gender fluidity, psychological horror—but they’re all squandered by lazy writing, poor production values, and tonal incoherence.
It’s not entirely unwatchable, and its notoriety alone may make it worth a look for die-hard completists. But for most, this is best left as a bizarre footnote in the extended Doctor Who multiverse.
Thanos?
Hmm…
My rewatch is up to “The Return of Doctor Mysterio”.
Superhero Christmas Special Hijinks? I sort of like that actually
That story is so boring!
Eh, I have a beer, I’m not bored
It’s definitely silly though…
Breach of the Peace
Well, Daleks’ Invasion Earth 2150 A.D. has Bernard Cribbins in it…
(Watched both Peter Cushing movies recently.)
I have access to Dr Who and the Daleks but I’ve never watched it
I watched one of the cushing movies as a kid but I dont know which nor do I remember much.
Dr Who and the Daleks!
I only just noticed like yesterday that the Peter Cushing films are on Netflix (at least in my region). I want to watch them at some point but I’m not in a hurry.
