How can it be a ‘bad and wrong opinion’ when you’re so right? I feel like RTD’s take on the Master is ‘hehe so evil and crrraaaazy’ which is actually never what the Master has been about, so it is a little jarring to see.
That said, Jacobi is wonderful and getting the War Master is something I can never be upset about

If season 3 were two years later I’d say his Master feels a bit Joker-y, but joker wasn’t really big in pop culture consciousness in '07 (or '06 when I assume he wrote it)

I have watched Shada (I liked that one a lot) , rewatched the first three episodes of Torchwood and watched the Doctor Who Movie in the German dub for the first time (I finally convinced my mother who has very little English skills to watch it and had to use the dub because of it. I really don’t like it. I feel like the voices chosen don’t really fit that well and the translation felt off to me, but that might just be me being too used to the original version of the audio)

I’ve entered the RTD1 Space Messiah phase, and in the words of the Second Doctor: “I don’t like it”.
This is what irks me to no end about the 10th Doctor, that he is somehow the supreme moral authority in the universe.
“If you are looking for a higher authority there isn’t one”
“I forgive you”
"Time Lord Victorious "
Even in the Giggle “You have my permission”
It’s just so pompous and sanctimonious and so far from what the mad man in a box should be in my eyes.
“I am an idiot! With a box and a screwdriver, passing by, helping out, learning”
“I’m just a traveller. Sometimes I see things need fixing, I do what I can”

Well, he does get made President of Earth in Death in Heaven so after that he kinda does have the authority.
I’d vote for him

And the Doctor’s also the President of Gallifrey, technically…

Ex-president surely, he was ousted out eventually and is there really even a Gallifrey to be President of anymore? And were the Time Lords really worthy of moral superiority with their combination of near-godlike powers and policies of non-intervention?
@shauny He wasn’t elected President of Earth until at least a thousand years later in his personal timeline to be pedantic but sure the quote I highlighted from the Giggle is kind of a different kettle of fish.
It is also just the imagery from this era that sets the Doctor up as some kind of divine saviour
I mean subtlety in storytelling is an option

Well, the 4th Doctor became president, and the 7th Doctor was still referring to himself as such… (And honestly, he could return right back to the point when he left office, theoretically, or could have before the time war.)
Though, admittedly, president of a planet when there are something like two people left alive from it isn’t much at this point.
Edit: actually, both the 4th & 5th Doctor’s became president…

Dinosaurs aside, Invasion of the Dinosaurs is a brilliant story!
I’ve just watched Taphony and the Time Loop and now I’m watching The Impossible Planet.

Did a full rewatch of Series 1 with a friend to introduce them to the wonderful world of Doctor Who. They’re leaving the country tomorrow so unfortunately they’ll have to continue without me, but it was very fun to get to experience some of this show anew through their eyes.

I love watching Who with people when it’s their first time! What did they think?

They had a great time! I need to learn how to hide my spoilery reactions better, I’ve talked so much about Torchwood around them they didn’t believe me when I told them Jack was going to die. Thankfully that meant it had a greater impact when it happened.

I watched the whole of the second season of Torchwood for the first time today. While I already liked the first season (even if I always somehow stopped exactly one episode before the end) I did like this season a bit more. It has my two favorite episodes (at this point) which kind of raises it above the first even though it also has my least favorite episode of the show as well.

Have you seen series 3? It’s the best one!

Not yet. I kind of have to wait till I can get my hands on it on DVD to watch it as I only have the first two and as far as I know it isn’t available for streaming anywhere I could access it, but I am totally looking forward to it then.

Watching Death to the Daleks on the Classic rewatch, episode three right now.
Not Terry Nation’s best work is it? Though it does have some very satisfying moments of Daleks blowing up.
And that Dalek Theme that comes on every time a Dalek appears is almost comical in it’s composition.

Doo do do dooweedooweedoo…doo do do dooweedooweedoo…
I loved that music. It’s one of the first VHS I owned and I watched it incessantly.

I’m not saying it’s bad, it’s just a bit of a disconnect from the narrative tone of the story which is a bit more serious and grim.
Imagine this story with a Dominic Glynn soundtrack!
This is a story that I would never want to watch as an omnibus version, I want that episode three cliffhanger - naff though it might be
