And I also finished The Mind Robber, this definitely is the best story with the Second Doctor I have watched yet to me.

Watching this atm then probably checking out their time warp video again.

The best one from Hillywood is their Supernatural parody of Shake it Off.

Just watched Arc of Infinity for the first time. I thought it was good. I always love location filming in classic who and just seeing then walking around Amsterdam was lovely.

I watched Evolution of the Daleks, The Lazarus Experiment and 42 today on my 2005 Who rewatch.
Evolution is slightly better than Daleks in Manhattan, but Andrew Garfield goes in the sin bin with his “New York Accent”.

The Lazarus Experiment has a very basic story that just drags on, and while special effects don’t really bother me, a production team that totally lacks insight in what the contemporary level of CGI is capable of bother me to no end - there are PS2 games with better graphics than that monster for crying out loud.
Francine Jones… She is just a horrible, horrible controlling human being with zero redeeming factors - ever played D&D? Francine Jones is what happens if you put 1 in Charisma.

42 was better than I remembered, but again a really basic storyline that doesn’t quite have enough substance to keep the suspense for the 42 minutes.
And again Francine Jones, selling out her daughter to a politician that hasn’t even been elected yet and sends three goons in suits to her apartment - honestly I am watching Game of Thrones season 1 at the moment and I like Joffrey better than Francine Jones at this point.

At least there are four good episodes in a row now after these :+1:

I wrapped up my (very, very long, much delayed) Classic Who voyage during the worst of the pandemic, but recently I rewatched a chunk of the Pertwee era. Been skipping some of the ones I don’t care to revisit, but I’m more or less making it through it in order, with the intention of going straight on to Tom’s run… I’m about halfway through season 11 now.

I think a lot of people underrate Jon Pertwee as the Doctor. He was a truly wonderful incarnation, Jon had so much presence, the standard of stories was insanely high… Love this whole era. It’s wonderful.

Most recent viewing was Invasion of the Dinosaurs… An all-timer, easily. And Mike’s arc in the stoy is just fantastic.

Next up is Death to the Daleks… It’s been a good few years since I saw that. I’m slightly dreading it, but at the same time, I’m rather fascinated to see how I look on it with slightly older eyes.

Just finished the Time Monster by watching Episode 6 during lunch.

Rewatching the seventh series. Today: Hide and Journey to the centre of the Tardis. Not really my favorite series, but then there’s the Paternoster Gang… :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Well done for keeping your lunch down…

I actually really like the Time Monster. It’s one of my favorites and probably my favorite of the season. I can sort of understand why people don’t like it, but I just find it fun. This is my Daemons. The Master is just so wonderfully fun in this, stealing every scene he’s in. I also really enjoy the Atlantis bits finding them my favorite parts of the story. This is peak confort Who for me.

Agree, I am very fond of The Time Monster also. But I tend to like a lot of the fun silly episodes

I know I’ll watch it again in the future and probably will enjoy it, but my last rewatch was painful.

I’ve seen three episodes again today.

Human Nature/Family of Blood and Blink.

Are words even necessary? These three are my very favourite episodes of the RTD1 era.
The Chameleon Arch and The Weeping Angels - they are such unbelievably good concepts, no wonder they both appear again several times in Who.

It’s the best acting David Tennant has done in Doctor Who in my eyes. I’m really not a fan of his Doctor, but John Smith is a tour de force from David Tennant. That sweet, awkward romance that he has with Joan is just so well done.

And Blink.
I still can’t comprehend how a human brain could come up with that story. It is mindbogglingly good!

Utopia next - Houuu-maaaaan!

I tried listening to an audiobook at 1.2 or 1.5 speed and it drove me barmy - never doing that again. I don’t think I could ever do it with visuals!

As I posted about here:

I speed up classic who to 1.2 and it worked well. From Second Doctor onwards I haven’t done it, but i did help get though those dryer early episodes. Any faster than 1.2 and it really did mess with it.

I can’t do it for audiobooks/audio dramas though.

Just finished a little run of Class ended with episode 4 with the wife. It’s like the CW of Doctor Who spin-off and I loved a lot of CW programs.

Started the morning by watching Utopia.

Derek Jacobi for crying out loud! He is so good, both as the doddering Professor Yana and as the Master. That slow reveal of the Master is maybe the best thing RTD has written for Who. When I hear Roger Delgado from the Dæmons it just sends chills down my spine.

That scene between Ten and Jack in the radiation room is amazing. I love Captain Jack and I don’t see that changing, well ever. And seeing John Barrowman and David Tennant running through corridors in those fabulous coats is just fantastic.

And here comes the “bad and wrong opinions”:
This is also the story that introduced the drumming in the Master’s head which is just the very worst story decision for the Master ever made. It is such a disservice to every writer and actor involved with the Master since season 8. Just, why??
I am not saying John Simm is a bad actor by any stretch, but there is exactly one story with him in it that I find myself able to enjoy (the two minutes here doesn’t really count) and we won’t get to it before 7 more seasons have passed us by.

Can I somehow headcanon that the Jacobi Master from Shalka and Yana are one and the same android with the same properties as Kamelion and the regeneration is just a shapeshift? The Shalka Doctor has placed the drumming in the Master’s android head as a joke, seems like something that alternative universe 9th Doctor would do. The “resurrection potion” later on is just fuel and motor oil to get him going again, and the “lightning jumping” is just a result of a faulty energy circuit.
