There we go with the “costume change”…
Ann Talbot wore it better.
This was the first Doctor Who postcard I ever bought, from the Doctor Who shop at Longleat (a safari park for the non-UK members) which used to have an official Doctor Who exhibition.
That was a good purchase. Still have it somewhere?
Yes. I do.
My dad has a print of a particular photo Katy Manning took with a Dalek, that I likely can’t post here.
Your dad, of course…your dad…
Nah, the only Katy Manning photo of mine I have is this one. And congrats, you know my first name, it’s not very doxxing.
I do so love that promo image, and Black Orchid as a whole really.
I like the first episode. Don’t like how the story wraps up in the second much.
You mean your name isn’t TARDIS?!??!?!?!?!?!!!??!
And I’m not actually Peter Capaldi either.
Is it me, or does Doctor Who both say that Anne Chaplet must have survived because Dodo did, and that Orson Pink existing doesn’t mean Danny Pink survived?
Honestly, I never thought it was any more than a name coincidence between that first pair of characters, and Steven just had hope (or cope perhaps) that she survived. The other one I think was a negated timeline once the later event in the show was seen.
No, I can’t take this influx of life-changing information! What are you going to reveal next? That you don’t have two hearts?
Watching “Empire of Death” this morning.
Bonnie Langford is spectacular, Mel coming back is the very best thing of the RTD2 era so far.
Millie Gibson is also just fantastic as Ruby Sunday.
But this story…
It’s very visually stunning, and it led to Tales of the TARDIS - so there’s that
Only 12 days to the Christmas Special
Also sat and watched @ChrisStokes ’ YouTube reviews of the two parts of the finale and just found myself nodding along throughout both videos.
RTD finales and me are just not a match made in heaven (and when the finale is 25% of the season it doesn’t exactly help… )
I can’t remember exactly what I said now but my opinion hasn’t changed much in the meantime so I have a good idea. In fact, I’d say over time I now think even less of the episodes
Same. It’s maybe four months since last I saw it, so I thought I would come at it from a “fresh perspective”… Didn’t help.
You brought up the same initial thought I had about EoD, that the cliffhanger should have been after Kate had been killed, that way we would have a week of what? But killing everyone two minutes into the episodes just screams “reset”, and I for one just loose every last ounce of suspense for the story then.
And having just listened to the Bernice Summerfield box-set with Sutekh really puts it into perspective how well Sutekh’s return can be done. CGI Jackal (pretty though it might be) is veeeery far from that…
And how does it make sense that Ruby’s birth mother pointing at a sign with nobody around is naming Ruby?
And why does the TARDIS have a whistle activated laser beam cannon under the console?
And why didn’t they have Gabriel Woolf say “I bring Sutekh’s Gift of Death” just once?
It took 750 Osirans to imprison Sutekh in that Pyramid on Mars, but dragging him through what has basically been his home for thousands of years is enough to kill him?
And why didn’t the Doctor think of the DNA registry in 2046 when he made the security for that system?
And why would metal be precious in a world where organic matter gets dustified?
And why is Kate Stewart wittering about birds with her last breath?
And why a million other things…
This bit probably rankled me the most. I can live with the Sutekh stuff and the obvious reset button in the distance when everyone is dusted. But the entire ‘what’s she pointing at’ turning out to be a sign that NO ONE was there to see coupled with the whole stupid ‘dressed in a mysterious black cloak’ bit was such an obvious case of ‘make her all mysterious for the sake of ‘drama’ but not actually have a good reason behind any of it’.
