It’s more the voice but I need to rewatch it to get the right cadence to my voice  .

Finished So Vile a Sin, a great space opera and return to the period of history where Chris and Roz are from. Has all sorts of wild things like giant tardises and doctors from alternate histories. Roz’s death and subsequent funeral absolutely wrecked me. With the doctor even having a heart attack because of it and Death telling him he will die alone and afraid.

Think I forgot to mention, but I’m a fair chunk into Border Princes, and it’s pretty fun so far!

I read that fairly recently and, yeah, I thought it was pretty good.

The two you’ve read/are reading are literally the only two I’ve read!

Fair enough!

I’ve not heard much, but there’s a few others I’m looking forward to (The Twilight Streets, and Slow Decay specifically), and one that I’m dreading (Exodus Code)

Finished the Evil of the Daleks novelisation from DWM, and I’m currently reading Only Human and The Secret in Vault 13.

FWIW, I read Exodus Code 3.5 years ago. I went into it with low expectations, but enjoyed it more than I expected to. Not a favorite by any means, but I didn’t hate it.

Ah neat, fair enough!

20 pages left of Trading Futures (and annoyingly I won’t get a chance to finish it until Monday). It’s a Lance Parkin book, so it’s brilliant (It’s a James Bond style spy story about a guy trying to sell time travel to the highest bidding government), but seprately also extremely horny (Anji spends literally half the book in a bikini for no real reason (and the book takes time to regularly remind us that she’s nearly naked), practically every major female character is described like a supermodel, and the widespread fashion in this future world is apparently jackets without shirts (and naturally the only people described as following this style are women)). At least this one’s only horny for adults (unlike Father Time, Lance Parkin’s previous book).

It’s also a little annoying that, with 20 pages left, the Doctor’s only just worked out the twist that I’d guessed (and thought was obvious) about 1/3 of the way through

Definitely my least favourite thing about Lance Parkin’s writing. I’ve noticed it before in other books of his, though I haven’t got to Trading Futures yet. His ideas are great, but I can never gel with the way he writes (with the exception of The Infinity Doctors, a really good piece of work!).

Yeah, the fact that he’s the one who wrote The Gallifrey Chronicles (you know, the finale) makes me more than a little nervous for when I get there

Weird, it took me forever to get through the In Wonderland book, despite enjoying it quite a lot. So, then I moved on to Rogue to get it out of the way. I did not have fond memories of the episode, so I figured read this one while my head’s not really there and I’m not missing anything.

Turns out I have to reevaluate my opinion of the episode. I had such a negative reaction to the Doctor’s romance in the episode because it didn’t feel the least bit earned, that it muted my appreciation of things I did like. Well, IMO, the book does the romance thing so much better than the episode. Not a shocker, it has more room to breathe in the novelization, so it’s much more believable, at least to me.

The story of the cosplaying aliens is pretty good, and as it’s no longer overshadowed by my issue with the romance, I could enjoy that all the more. So, the book turned out to be a pleasant surprise.

Weird note: after reading a book centered around Alice, I moved on to this book, that also has an Alice. And while I was reading it, I got a used book in the mail and it came with a bookmark that has an Alice in Wonderland quote on it. Very odd.

Finished off “All-consuming Fire” today.
A fantastic book all around, and I love the way how the perspective changes from time to time between Watson and Benny
I really want to try the audio version now :slightly_smiling_face:
4,5/5 :star:

And just read the first ~50 pages of “Blood Harvest”, which is perfect as I reached “State of Decay” in my rewatch not a week ago
I have read it previously, because Vampires, but remember very little, except being super confused about how Vampires in E-Space and Al Capone’s Chicago hangs together. :slightly_smiling_face:

IIRC, Capone ran a bunch of Speak E-Spaceys. Or maybe I’m confused.
