What Are You Currently Playing?

Started a new Metroid Prime/Echoes multiworld randomized seed, this time with randomized door types and elevator destinations. In Prime I got wave beam doors replaced by missile doors, and ice beam doors replaced with wave beam doors, which is no big deal. But in Echoes, I got missile doors replaced with screw attack doors, and seeker launcher doors replaced with sonic boom doors. Which is insanity. Also an elevator that leads to… its own starting location?

I think I’m good on anything David Tennant for a while. Spent about an hour or so in the Boss Arena for the Aberration map of Ark: Survival Evolved. The boss for Aberration is Rockwell[1] who is voiced by David Tennant. So, I just spent an hour using a combination of console commands (cheats) and rocket grenades to take down the monster. All the while Tennant is screaming repeated dialogue at me or just plain screaming every time I fire a rocket grenade into the monster’s heart. But, that means that I can move on to Extinction tomorrow. Now I’m going to bed.

It’s been a while since I played anything, which means I have to double this time around, so going to replay both Zelda Skyward Swords and Demon Souls, very looking forward to both of those!

I think everyone gets that guilt while playing when they’re an adult lol.

Just try your best to block it out when you do play.

Having played DS3, Bb, and ER… Why would you want to torture yourself playing a soulsgame.

They’re great but agonizing.

Well good that you ask various Things makes me want to play them
a) I play to redo a Ranking I do for the Soulsgame, so I need to refresh my Mind with replaying them
b) as much as they are torture at times, they are MY torture  and in a way Comfort Games for me even! (I know that’s a crazy Thing to say but still)
c) because I am insane!

There’s a certain amount you can do to make souls games easier, too, and they tend toward becoming easier once you know them. And they are kinda comfort games, in their way.

You can also try going at things totally different then you did before, and it changes up things a fair amount. Fighting all the bosses in Dark Souls 1 with a great scythe is a totally different experience then fighting them with bows, for example.

Or I’ve won Dark souls 3 with a combination of a bandit’s knife, various crossbows, and Anri’s Straight Sword. Now I’m fighting the bosses as a pyromancer with a Chaos Broadsword. Pretty different experiences.

Been plinging along enemies a little with magic in Dark Souls 2 as well.

The souls games I’ve won are 1, 2[1], and 3, incidentally. Haven’t actually won Demon Souls, Bloodborne, Sekiro, or Elden Ring.

I’ve played a fair amount of Elden Ring, er, beat one boss in Demon Souls, and got even less far in the other two? Demon Souls and Bloodborne are both playstation exclusive, and I don’t really have things set up to play them most of the time…

  1. Kind of a favorite, honestly… ↩︎

Apart from getting stressed with Overwatch daily, I’ve been playing lots of Balatro, Vampire Survivor and Digimon World Next Order.

Totally recommend all three of them

Be careful with Balatro, it’s legal cocaine , hard to put down, especially if you love Poker

Too late for that. I have the game in every system :smiling_face_with_tear:

Been ferrying stuff between Arks, but I’ve had a couple game crashes. Lost some building progress which actually turned out to be helpful. Hopefully I didn’t lose any of my tames.

I CAN’T BELIEVE YOU LIKE DIGIMON FREDDY

I recently finished Next 0rder by the way.

I’m currently venturing into Mario Odyssey and yesterday I started a new game in Shin Megami Tensei 5

I LOVE DIGIMON!
I’m counting the days to Digimon Story Time Stranger btw

Next Order is being a great way to cope with time stranger hype

I CAN’T BELIEVE YOU LIKE SMT, BREE!

SMT, Yakuza, Mario and both Pokémon and Digimon are probably my top favorite game franchises

Yes, SMT 5 is my first experience with the franchise, but I loved the first route I played, I can’t wait to play other games in the saga!

SMT 5 is great. Gotta buy Vengeance 'cause I played only the vanila version.
Totally recommend SMT 3 Nocturne after your finish this one, and of course the Persona series!

I’ve actually got a copy of Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne III HD Remaster. Played an hour and a half or so a few weeks back, IIRC, as it was in my massive backlog. Seemed fun. Beat the boss blocking me from getting out of the hotel, then immediately got killed after going outside and my save was from before beating the boss…

I also have Persona 3,4, and 5 (more then once on some of those). Looking through my ps 2 collection, I see the original SMT Nocturne III, and Digital Devil Saga 1+2.

I think I remember having a few other games in the series floating around, but they were on my PSN account or on consoles I don’t use any more…

I remember playing a fair amount of Persona 3+4 back on ps2. A bit on Vita as well, I think.

Ah, the SMT experience, the franchise that perfectly embodies the ideal of break you until you break it .

It probably does make sense that I play both SMT and Souls games…
