I am glad she is growing on you
I’ll finish Eternity Club today and then it’s time to tackle Most Wanted.
I’m at the finale of Doom Coalition 4: “Stop the Clock”, starting in a minute.
Doom Coalition 4 is chaotic!
I like it, but it is messy. And so many characters.
I love Helen and Liv. They get some fantastic scenes together. Paul McGann is good as ever.
I’ve also quite enjoyed River Song in the Doom Coalition audios she’s been in.
I’m looking forward to seeing how this all ties together in the end
finishing the 9das and the james kettle ones are just awful… idk how he writes other ranges fine but then his 9das are just bad
Listened to Torchwood: Empire of Shadows whoch was good. Lovely to hear Zachary Cross Flane again, and it was the first time I realised it’s Flane and not Flame.
Also started Pier Pressure, the first episode has some lovely Six and Evelyn interactions, and a relisten of Seasons of Fear.
I’ll be intrigued to hear your thoughts on Pier Pressure - it’s generally not highly regarded.
Yes, I have heard of it’s poor reputation, but I certainly enjoyed the first episode. Its been a while since I last heard an Evelyn story so thought it’s time I listen to the ones I’ve yet to hear.
I hate being down on stories but Pier Pressure is one I really struggled with. I’ll leave me review here for you to look at later.
When I started listening to these I totally didn’t like her
It’s mostly how strained her interactions are with the doctor at the start that made me feel like that.
And I did have a moment of “another contemporary earth girl??”
But right around Immortal Beloved she kind of clicked for me! And her banter with the Doctor got very good lol.
After finishing “Doom Coalition”
(And having received the badge to prove it )
I’ve moved on to “The Diary of River Song” Series 5 (the Master series). “The Bekdel Test” was a lot of fun Missy and River is a riot together (though not quite as much a riot as River and Alpha Centauri together
)
I definitely want to listen to a lot more of Missy on audio - haven’t listened to her own series… yet
But why is it called “The Bekdel Test” when River and Missy basically does nothing else than talk about the Doctor?
A 4,5/5 for being witty, clever and banter-y
Because it was a miserable fail of the test!
I’ll give it a read when I’m done.
A lot of stories I’ve heard things about so have an idea why they are disliked, but Pier Pressure I actually know bothing about so am intrugued to see what I make of it.
Halfway through Seasons of Fear now and it’s much better than I remember it being. Some lovely dialogue, the Doctors reflections on time and change in episode 2 was really beautiful. And Charley has some very fun dialogue.
Started The Krillitane Feint!
Finished Eternity Club. The fourth set wasn’t quite as good as the previous two, but it took the arc to a satisfying close. I didn’t expect it to leave a few plot threads dangling for possible future sets, though.
I also had time to listen to Fast Times off the new Fugitive Doctor set.
Started 2013 with The Flames of Cadiz. A fine historical that does fun stuff with the “can’t change history” idea. It also does some fun name dropping that took me longer to pick up on than it should have, but at least I got it before they spelled it out.
I’ve listened to the two middle parts of The Diary of River Song series 5 today
The Geoffrey Beevers one was good, a 3,5/5 I’d say.
The Eric Roberts Master one was great, a 4/5 to that one. Without a doubt Eric Roberts is my favourite audio Master at the moment
Only the War Master one to go…
I’m continuing with Most Wanted today. Next up is The Legend of Baba Yaga, which I have high hopes for.
Also going to continue Most Wanted today or tomorrow. Will listen to Scherzo tomorrow too.
Finished The Krillitane Feint. Will do the Lupari one this weekend but Answer Me This has dropped a new podcast episode after two years so I’m going to listen to that first.
