The Foe from the Future.
‘Seasons of Fear’ with Eight and Charley! (running to try and catch you for ‘Scherzo’ on the Audio Club)
Absolute baaaanger, I think it’s even better than ‘Chimes of Midnight’.
Listened to The Galois Group! Nowhere near a fave s7v story but I enjoyed it a lot! Ingar does a great 11, and I absolutely adore Valarie as always.
And with that I’ve finished every story of one of my fave companions ever Please come back one day Valarie Lockwood I love you
Three episodes into The Scream of Ghosts - proper cosy UNIT stuff and another of BF’s obsessions - the Vardans. Really enjoying it and I have to admit I rather love Colin Baker’s intros and outros for the Into the TARDIS.
About to listen to The Krillitane Feint during shopping at lunch
Continuing with New Benny: Eternity Club today. Rhubarb was absolutely hilarious! Loads of fun!
Physically had to stop on the way back from the shop to gasp at the twist of the TARDIS team we were following being krillitanes
As always John Dorney is cooking
Finished Deathworld earlier, found it a wonderful liaten. Noonan was definitely the weakest of the recast Doctors in this but he really does capture a lot of Hartnell’s vocal performance in his impression, even if he sounds less like Hartnell than the other recasts do of there Doctors. I must catch up with the First Doctor Adventures soon. I also really like that although it ends with the story not really having happened, it still did. I really liked the brigadier and the First Doctor together and the reference to Bret Vyron.
Finished The Scream of Ghosts. Pretty good stuff.
Been listening to the 8DAs! I’d only gotten as far as The Horror of Glam Rock a few years ago. It made me lose all interest.
This time around, I really love the 8th doctor after listening to him with Charley, and I want to continue his adventures.
I’ve listened from Blood of the Daleks to No More Lies in the past few days.
I think it’s a mixed bag so far. I haven’t found a clear favorite yet, but I did find Immortal Beloved and Phobos to be good. The rest were fine/meh in different ways.
I hear great things about Human Resources! I’m about to listen to Part 1 tonight
The Eighth Doctor Adventures - The Gloaming by Lauren Mooney and Stewart Pringle.
I wasn’t too impressed with the previous story Women’s Day Off and was a little underwhelmed by the opening moments of this, the final story in the Deadly Strangers set. For a story featuring the return of the truly frightening Mara (can we have a boxset please, BF?), the slightly silly voices threatened some kind of comedy initially. But things improved greatly as they went along, due in part to the writing, and also the wonderful acting, mainly from the regulars. Sadly, the character of Dekkar is awful, gratingly bad. As the story continues, he proves to be an important character, and other people’s perceptions of him make quite an interesting point (“Dekkar: we’ve all met them haven’t we?” says Paul McGann in the extras), but I’m hugely grateful he didn’t hop aboard the TARDIS at the end. A kind of Drax for the N-Dubz generation.
But the Mara, and the echoes of the TV stories, including little unnerving moments in the incidental music, are all wonderful. Er … can we have a box set, please, BF? Oh, I’ve asked that before.
It’s a request that deserves to be repeated!
Listened to Criss Cross, it was pretty good. Constance seems like she’ll be a interesting companion.
Constance is great - and even better once Flip rejoins.
Eternity Club 3 today. Once again two funny, exciting and poignant stories. And my gosh that cliffhanger
Going to finish this chapter of Benny’s saga tomorrow, and then I am ready to backtrack to her earlier adventures.
Yay are you going to join my Benny adventure?
That’s the plan, yeah!
Benny supremacy!!!
I really enjoyed The Dying Breed! What a great character drama where all the leads are clearly having a great time with the script, and I just found it a delight to listen to.
Finished Landbound this afternoon. Toying with giving the Fugitive Doctor a try…
Human Resources was excellent. Very funny, and a surprising outing for the Cybermen honestly! The entire concept of the office was fascinating.
Despite not liking Lucie at the beginning of the series, she’s been improving much more every episode. She’s got some great lines in this, and I’ve grown to like her!
Next up: Dead London
