It’s still the same old story, but the new edit does seem to give it a little more impetus as well as giving that sense of a more traditional multi-Doctor story (rather than three seperate episode 1s and a final episode). Also, it has to be said, a better aural experience than the original.
Slightly mixed feelings about Survivors in Space, but mostly to the positive. There’s something of a deus ex machina in the resolution, but other than that…
It has an unexpected explanation regarding the mysterious other Doctor, there’s fun stuff with the villagers, and overall it’s a pretty solid finale to Serpent Crest.
And finally a Future Phantoms W! I really really loved The Sitter. Genuinely spooky and unsettling, sticks the landing for me and has amazing performances all round. I was gripped throughout my entire walk.
I’m starting story two in The Doctor and Carnacki set, having found the first story … alright but nothing special.
Here’s a little personal side note; I’ve always done a lot of sketching, portraits, landscapes etc. For a few months, I’ve suffered from eye problems that have made drawing impossible. The thing is, Big Finish has always been the perfect accompaniment to such activities (alongside a steaming cup of tea). Without the sketching, I have nothing to accompany my BF listening - so I ask, what do other people do when they’re immersing themselves in the latest release?
If the weather is decent I’ll occassionally go for a walk. Usually I listen while or doing chores (dishes, cleaning house, mowing lawn, yardwork, etc) or while driving.
I am loving it, but also thoroughly confused.
I think there’s a lot that goes over my head because I haven’t heard every other Seventh Doctor story Big Finish has made.
Definitely have to pick up “The Quantum Possibility Engine” at some point (and that one also has got Narvin in it )
I was perhaps a tiny bit disappointed that Vienna was in it less than 5 minutes…
Like @DarthGallifrey, I listen whilst doing chores around the house.
Not always the best option, as I think I often miss key aspects, but I have little time to simply sit and listen.
So, I listened to The Sirens of Time again. I’ll put more thoughts in the Club thread (because I jumped into Audio Club starting from Whispers of Terror), but it is a pretty dull and confusing release.
I also listened to the first two parts of Redux. It’s already an improvement, mostly due to how it’s been edited so that it has a better flow. The story is the same, of course.
I’ve had the first season of Ninth Doctor Adventures for some time, but recently bought seasons two and three on Ebay, so decided to relisten from the beginning.
I know it’s some time since my first listen, but I’m three quarters through season one and this is the first story I recall having listened to before! Maybe I remember it because I enjoyed it so much?
