We just don’t know what that image is showing yet. Speculation is all well and good, but we have pretty much zero context. It’s a blurry image. Whatever it is, we know it’ll look a lot better on screen.
Whilst I’m not the biggest fan of the modern Silurian redesign, I’d be amazed if they don’t redesign the Sea Devils for this. Frankly, the way they appeared in Legend of the Sea Devils wouldn’t pass muster with the audience that they will be hoping to achieve for The War Between. I understand that and I accept it. I’m sure, whatever we get, it’ll look visually impressive.

I’ve seen someone saying that the sea monster from legend of sea devils is a myrka. Gugu (I think it’s her in the pic) might even be playing a myrka in semi shimmered “human form”.
I’m mostly wondering whether this will be the kiddy spin-off, or it will be the adult one. Maybe it’s just for UNIT fans of any ages.

I feel conflicted about this whole Show, I must admit. I really dislike what UNIT has become in the revival and so far going off RTD2, they are easily at their most dullest (Cast is great, but it feels like every time we have seen them, it seemed quite like they were a bit incompetent, which is a shame). Now having a Spin off could go two ways: Great or maybe even just make those issues more apparent.
I really REALLY hope what ever this Spin Off has in store for us, that UNIT gets more to do unlike some of the latest doctor who finales. I am not even sure if we should get an Appearance of the Doctor here, would be interesting if he can’t be reached, because thinking about what scale this story would be, it does seem a bit weird if the Doctor appears anywhere but the end. But that’s just me, if we get more Ncuti, I won’t complain.
Some thoughts to the leaked image… now I don’t want to jump to conclusion, as a design itself it looks good, if it’s the fish people then that’s a really nice redesign. (And that would tie yet another recent Who Animation to the relevancy of the Show). If it’s a Sea Devils Redesign then I really dislike it, I would prefer if they MOSTLY stick with the design we got in LotSD. Would be a shame if one of the best things of that rather not so great episode gets dismissed so quickly. And I think you could do quite a lot going this route, I remember seeing people say: “Oh it is so the actors can act!”, which is a statement I completely disagree with. I think you can absolutely act without being able to properly express facial features at times, body language exist, and I REALLY hope it gets used for the Sea Devils here. The Choice of them is certainly an interesting one and that’s what makes me excited for it, since it doesn’t feel obvious like most other spin off wishes.
I am cautiously optimistic but have my expectations trimmed.
