Updates on "The War Between the Land (Parasites) and the Sea (Devils)"

I think it is a bit of RTD fatigue already setting in for me after 10 out of 12 episodes penned by him in this current era…

And honestly I think a lot of Kerblam! is really good. Literal killer bubble wrap - don’t tell me this guy doesn’t understand Who  The little short films he wrote for Collection releases are just delightful.

I was also really glad when I learned that Class wasn’t written by Moffat as he was the showrunner of the time that was made (that I only liked 1 episode out of 8 is another matter entirely )

I think RTD should stick to a producer role for a project like this, and let someone else have a go. It could be a gateway for a future showrunner to get the required experience to take over the main show for example.

That said, I really like what little we know about this show so far :slightly_smiling_face:

I think you are forgetting that it is RTD who on the other hand has written what I think is the worst Who story of all time :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Honestly, I agree that RTD should stick to a producer role for this, but I’m sorry, Kerblam had promise and could’ve been good but it just wasn’t, the ending especially

Kerblam! fell apart spectacularly at the end - I will not even try to defend the final 10 minutes of that episode… :slightly_smiling_face:

I agree with this. I also feel like we need to have more voices in the writers room for the upcoming seasons. I just don’t trust this writer after the train wreck that is Kerblam and I think that if he is writing it can be a good thing that he have someone a bit more experienced to help him.

Kerblam might not be the best Dr. Who episode but Pete McTighe’s a very experimental writer. Award winning.

I have not looked at his other work that might be better.

Yes some of his shirts are okay but it is not enough to restore my faith in him as a writer

You’ve seen his wardrobe and rated his shirts?

I’m just hoping this show is like some of RTD’s other spectacular short run series:

  • Torchwood: Children of Earth
  • Years and Years
  • It’s a Sin

All of them are almost flawless!

Honestly if the series is anywhere near CoE, I’m sure we’ll all be happy/in floods of tears

I saw this photo on Reddit. It’s a monster sighting from the set: a Sea Devil? A Silurian? Something else?

It looks a bit like the Atlantans from The Underwater Menace…

I saw that. I imagine some in fandom are losing their shit over a potential Sea Devil redesign but then that’s par for the course, I suppose. Never let a little thing like lack of context get in the way of making suppositions.

Even if it is a new design, it looks intriguing - and not dissimilar to how Silurians look in the modern era.

Seeing as how I still regularly displace my turd over the Silurian redesign you might have a point here
Where’s the bleedin’ Third Eye?!? :sunglasses:

Ooh I actually prefer that. Looks more realistic and less…. Muppet.

I know where the third eye is, but I can’t spell it out here, because we are a family friendly community!

Aw no don’t tell me we’ve had another boring classic monster redesign like the Silurians…

Well no, we don’t actually know what it is yet - it’s a blurry image completely out of context. Could be anything. It could be a return of the Fish People from Underwater Menace.

Honestly, with it being the war between the land and the sea, there’s room for multiple sea living creatures…
