My eldest son and I are slowly getting through The Incredible Hulk series from the late 70s.
But we are now alternating with episodes of the Japanese Toei Spiderman series from the late 70s as well which he spent his pocket money on
It is… weird… Really weird!
And every single episode ends with a genetically engineered monster grows to super size, Spiderman calls his giant Transformer spaceship and throws a giant shining sword at the monster - roll credits.
We’ve got 38 episodes to go at least they are only 20 minutes a piece.
Fun fact, there was meant to be actual giant monster fights in each episode, but the suit for the spaceship got stolen pretty early on, so they had to just reuse that footage of him throwing the sword because that’s basically all the had of it
It certainly has that feel and atmosphere about it
Worst part must be that the theme song is super catchy, but I don’t speak Japanese - so I just walk around whistling and randomly saying “Spider-Man!”.
Have been watching Miriam Margoyles latest Australian series - she is such a brilliant woman.
Also finishing off Series 3 of Taskmaster New Zealand. The contestants are always great and Paul Williams (their equivalent of Alex) is lots of fun but I just don’t get their Taskmaster - he’s not a patch on Greg Davies and just never seems that invested in things.
Power Rangers actually borrows from and adapts a Japanese series much more similar to it in concept, one known as Super Sentai. It’s one of my partners’ special interests and I’ve learned quite a bit about it and even seen a few episodes! One of which, the first episode of the season Mirai Sentai Timeranger, reminded me a lot of Doctor Who.
I finished Lockwood & Co and it got the Netflix treatment which kinda sucks since I really enjoyed it. The main cast bounce off of each other rather well and the whole ghost aspect is brilliant and I like the way they twisted them to make them more interesting. (This is coming from someone who doesn’t watch a lot of ghost shows)
Watched the beginning of the new season of only murders in the building this morning, it continues to be fun, it’ll be interesting to see where the story will go
We’re waiting till the whole season has dropped before plunging in.
We’ve just finished up Miriam Margolyes latest adventure round Australia. Her travelogues have a way of making me happy and positive and so open to the worlds of other people. Her straight talking but fully open and accepting attitude to life is one I wish everyone possessed. Her willingness to change, at her stage in life, is remarkable.
Also been enjoying ITV’s new comedy, Piglets about trainee police officers. It’s got Lindy Pepper-Bean in it!
Tonight, I have the difficult task of getting my wife and I to agree on what series we watch next. I really want to give Andor a go, but she’s not so keen, but we’ve also got seasons of various shows hanging on which finished years ago but we haven’t got to the end of - Teen Wolf, Once Upon a Time, Grimm. Kaos looks good; I’ve wanted to try out Lucifer; we need to carry on with Cobra Kai, 911 Lone Star; we’ve the final season of Castle to watch but have promised to do that with our eldest who has caught up with us…
I watched all of A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder today. I enjoyed it a lot. Although I was a bit annoyed about some of the decisions the main character made at some points.
Finally finished Only Murders In the Building S3, started & ended well just dragged a lot in the middle for me. A lot of the character stuff was boring & felt like filler.
I recently finished off Twin Peaks - Okay, more like I finished all the 90s stuff and got a few episodes into The Return, but I couldn’t do it It made sense and all, I just didn’t connect with it the way I did with the OG. I really like the original, however! I miss it already :,)
I’d forgotten she was in it actually. Who is she playing?
I’ve enjoyed all the Star Wars shows so far - even Boba Fett which apparently I’m not supposed to like - but I will admit that they are all a bit po-faced sometimes. Andor seems particularly to be going down that line but this episode at least had Rupert Vansitarrt to lighten proceedings with his world-weary police officer. It was a role I could see Colin Baker or Peter Davison playing in a similar way.
