ToTT: Pyramids of Mars

What with Pyramids of Mars getting a spin in the Memory TARDIS tonight I thought it would be nice to have a place for discussing the episode :slightly_smiling_face:

A lot of us probably know Pyramids of Mars by heart at this point but the run-time seem to indicate that it has been edited somehow. And new scenes with Ncuti and Millie, in the Memory TARDIS!

So could we keep any, if any, and all spoilers here in this topic so those of us who won’t have immediate access to it won’t be spoiled?
You might have noticed I have a bit of FOMO here

All praise Sutekh the Destroyer! :smiling_imp::dog2:

I bring Sutekh’s Gift of Death to all humanity (UK only)

Specifically the people in charge of not making this internationally available :smiling_imp:

There are ~ 195 countries on this sphere hurtling through space in the vicinity of the star Sol, why limit yourself to one island kingdom? Seriously, take our money BBC! :smiling_imp:

So I read elsewhere that not only is the story edited into an omnibus format, it also comes with updated effects. This has raised rumours about the next Blu-ray Collection Set being for Season 13, because why would they have updated effects only for a ToTT episode (I still can’t take that abbreviation seriously, it makes me think of TOMTIT. I have a dirty mind :joy:).

I’m going to watch this, but more for a rewatch of Pyramids, rather than for 15/Ruby content.

I might just watch Pyramids for funsies anyway <3

I would assume that Transition Of Matter Through Interstitial Time would be a rather sterile process actually  Not dirty at all!

The thing that makes me doubt that is the fact that we only recently had a Tom Baker set.

Unlike the other Tales Of The TARDIS episodes, this is the first time that my parents have been equally excited to watch a Tales Of The TARDIS. It shows how much of an impact the cliffhanger to The Legend Of Ruby Sunday held, even if they have also said they were confused by it because they had no idea who Sutekh was.

Yeah, this is one thing that speaks against it.

The same for my wife and daughter. No interest in last year’s TotT, but THIS time…

…it’ll be a family affair.

I hate to be that guy but I don’t think that we should expect that much of the new stuff. It can not be important because it is only in the UK and I don’t expect the emotional impact as last year because it is the current TARDIS crew. But it might be fun at least :grinning:

I am probably just overthinking as usual here, but if it is true that the Memory TARDIS is in Empire of Death like the D+ trailer indicated then there might be some connection with this, however slight it might be :slightly_smiling_face:

That scene could also be from the episode tonight

I’m on an (unfortunately timed) holiday so whilst I can watch the finale on Disney plus I’m sadly locked out of ToTT. Much sympathy for non-UK whovians who live like this all year.

It probably will be fun, and I hope it’s mostly just going to be the Doctor going “hey Ruby, let me tell you about this crazy time I had with some mummies” and it’s more a Pyramids recap than anything we actually need. Because that’s unfair to put a plot element in something some of us can’t even access at all

It is a hard life. But we manage. We meet in support groups and talk about how unfair life is.

And the name of that support group?

TARDIS Guide :tardis:

I’ve never actually seen Pyramids and was gonna watch it at some point relatively recently until I saw that this was coming (or at least theorised to be coming). I love Tales cause I can kill two birds with one stone and don’t have to press ‘next episode’ every 25 minutes. I do wonder how the 15/Ruby stuff will tie into EoD though

Just for your information. This will be a cut-down version of Pyramids unlike the other Tales.
