I remember when we celebrated 4,000 stories.
Then this thread was created when we reached 5,000 stories.
Well, guess what? We just reached 9,000 stories!

What were the final stories that pushed it over the top?

The final ones were just some random comics I added to try and push it over haha
Oooh, from where? I recently cleared a bunch of Doctor Who? and Daft Dimension comics!
Here’s every story added this month:
(Because of how the site works, variations are counted as separate stories, so there are a lot of audiobooks here. Perhaps I should change the number on the homepage to not count them… hmm)
I’d say keep the full number, perhaps “X Stories, plus Y variations” is a good middle ground.
Possibly the wrong thread, but would it be possible to change the release date on this story (Pantheon of Discord · Doctor Who at the Proms (Minisode) · TARDIS Guide) to the day of the room itself (26/8/24) for people who saw it while at the prom?
Sure, good point, that’s done!
I might show that at some point, but until then we have this now:
Here’s the thread where changes of the story pages are discussed! : )
Happy to see a couple of things from my earlier post (The Pescatons novelization, The Weeping Angels book, Benton and Hawthorne Investigate, The Benton Files VI) can now be found in Collectibles. Woohoo!
Still not able to find Daemos Rising, Mindgame, Wartime, and The Analysis Bureau: Roseblood in Collectibles, even though their pages (Telos novelisations, Other Candy Jar fiction) are marked as Done on the Overview page. They’re all in Stories, just not in Collectibles.
Ah yes people are making spreadsheets for the stories but then I’m not always getting around to adding the collectables.
But I do have a way of seeing every story that doesn’t belong to a collectable, so I will get to them eventually!
Not sure where to put this, but I can’t seem to find the stories from this on the site:
Is this an unofficial book?
No that was official. Are the stories original or reprinted from elsewhere?
(I’m going to move this to the story suggestion thread).
I was checking another reading order, and the first story to read is called Safe Haven; however, when I search for that story in ‘Stories’ or for the book itself in ‘Collectables,’ I come up empty.
Thanks for moving it to story suggestions (now I just need to find that thread, lol).
Or, wait, is that this thread?
They seem to be original from what I know, but I think some bits were later used in other places? Like How To Be A Time Lord, The Companion’s Companion, The Dangerous Book Of Monsters and A History Of Humankind all being turned into The Short History of Everything, ending up with a lot missing and a few new bits.
But in reverse, so there’s a lot of new bits and some missing bits in other books. I don’t know why I decided to compare them. I just wanted an excuse to type more, clearly.
Actually, I’ve just looked it up and those don’t seem to be on the Guide either.
None of the books which blur the lines between fiction and non-fiction are yet on the Guide. All in good time.
I’d say they’re all rather clearly fictional, Companion’s Companion is specifically textually a book written by Clara with notes from other companions that she found and hid somewhere in the TARDIS, addressed to the next companion and companions after that.
The History of Humankind is a Coal Hill School/Academy book that The Doctor scribbled in (and possibly stole. I can’t remember, but A Short History of Everything basically does everything to confirm that.)
The Dangerous Book of Monsters is ambiguous, I will give you that.
How To Be A Time Lord was a Time Lord book that had many pages torn out and replaced with a guide written by The Doctor for the next The Doctor, including things they might’ve forgotten. Presumably written on Trenzalore, but I can’t remember if they state it. It’s implied at least twice, I think. Personally I think it was written in The TARDIS between Deep Breath and the end of Night of The Doctor.
And A Short History of Everything I have no clue about, don’t really care for, and cynically thought at time of release and after reading it once that it was solely made to have a book out without having to write much (or really anything of note) for the new Doctor, instead of being a compilation of the other books with new entries added for episodes that had released since.
According to the blurb, it seems to be the same as How To Be A Time Lord in-universe, except presumably Jodie Whittaker’s Doctor (One of them.) at some point went ham on the cutting and sticking one day and stuck a bunch of other people’s books into it, something that the order of pages in the table of contents also confirms.
