The road to 10,000 stories…

Nope. They are down the road. Will be added later and you wou be able transfer your ratings from books to them

Not too sure about other BF outputs myself. I think it’s on shauny’s plan

Great, thanks for the update!

We only have the BBC recons on the site.

Are there plans to add the others at some point? That’s how I experienced the missing stories the first time through years ago.

Probably not because they aren’t official. (To be honest, I’ve logged the recons on here despite actually watching the LC ones instead of the BBC ones.)

As was stated above, we have the BBC recons on the site. The LC recons, while popular, aren’t technically official, which is why we don’t have them. But I intend to log the BBC recon even if I watch the LC one.

This has been discussed, yes. I don’t think we reached a consensus on this yet. Either way, I don’t think this is a primary concern right now.

I personally think that we should add the LC ones as well, because even if they are not official, they are an important part of the history of the franchises, a bit like the Audio Visuals. But I think that @shauny and @deltaandthebannermen disagreed with me on that, but I can’t remember, to be honest.

Soft agree, but then I am on the more liberal side with it (e.g. I’d push for those “Where’s the Doctor?” puzzles from DWA). That said, I can totally see why they would be bottom priority even if the site did go for them, so I’m not in a rush for it.

I think it’s tricky. Loose Cannon were always very quick to remove recons from circulation if official ones came out or existing episodes were returned.

Say we put up the LC recon for The Smugglers and then later the BBC releases an official one. Do we remove the unofficial one?

Also, the ones available are using BBC copyrighted pictures and sound. The Audio Visuals, at least are only using the name of the Doctor and a few other elements with everything else being original.

I’m not in a rush, either. Everyone who makes this site so amazing always seems to be quite busy, so definitely a low priority. I just personally think they should be added at some point. We have all the BBV stuff, things like the ‘Mission’ recreation (which I know had BBC approval, but it wasn’t actually made by the BBC, correct?). Say the original ‘Mission to the Unknown’ was found; we’d leave the recreation on the site, wouldn’t we?

Anyway, just my shiny nickel, for whatever it’s worth.

BBV only released stuff they had a licence too. Yes, the Professor and Ace are borderline and had to be changed eventually once the BBC got wind, but it’s still not the same as just outright creating a ‘product’ using copyrighted material. And, as you say, the Mission to the Unknown recreation was BBC approved and in this case it a bit of an exception to the rule anyway seeing how unique it is.

Right - lots of grey areas. I just lean more towards inclusion, that’s all.

The discussion elsewhere about the Cushing Doctor series from Obverse leads me to revisit some things I don’t find on the Guide. Making some notes here…

I’ve noticed 4 books (Daemos Rising, Mindgame, Wartime, and The Analysis Bureau: Roseblood) where the story itself shows up under Stories, but the actual book cannot be found in Collectibles. Can that be fixed?

Similarly, there’s an activity book (The Weeping Angels) that isn’t listed in Collectibles, though the two short stories in the book can be found under Stories. That’s probably by design, given its nature as an activity book that includes short stories.

The Pescatons novelization - The audio version of this story is in, but the Target book is not. Can we add that book?

The Masters of Luxor script book - The Big Finish adaptation is in, but the script book is not. I guess this goes for all those script books, not just the Titan series (also, for example, the Farewell Great Macedon and Prison in Space ones from Nothing at the End of the Lane). Would script books fall on the side of “non-fiction we aren’t including”? I can see an argument to be made for that, but I thought I’d ask.

Even if Luxor bears inclusion, I’m not sure the Nothing at the End of the Lane ones have the same claim, having been released on Lulu as print-on-demand. Heck, there was even a novelization of Lost in the Dark Dimension released on Lulu that can’t be said to have much claim to legitimacy. But hey, it’s by “David Agnew”, the same fake name that brought us some of the Cushing Doctor books that ignited this post!

I was also going to ask about adding new releases for sets we’ve already loaded - specifically Candy Jar releases Benton and Hawthorne Investigate, The Benton Files 6, The Havoc Files 5, The Havoc Files 6 - but I took a look at the spreadsheet, and can see they’re in the pipeline.

@shauny I noticed that the new 1001 Nights in Time & Space novel/anthology hasn’t yet been added to the site. Is it on the spreadsheet, or do you need any information?

Ah I keep forgetting and last time I checked there was no info about it on the wiki. I’ll take another look.

Added it!

There’s lots of info missing on the stories so anyone who reads this, I’d appreciate them filling it out

I can’t add artists to short stories on the edit form so I figured I’d mention here that the book’s illustrated by Paul Magrs. I’ve only read the free sample but it looks like there’s a pattern of an illustration at the beginning of each part, so it presumably applies to all of them.

I’ve gone through with my copy of the book in hand and added all the page counts, I’ve not used the suggest edit feature before so I hope I’ve done it right

Illustrations in some of the stories as well!

I completed 54 stories in two weeks. Felt pretty proud. Checked my total remaining. 200 more than when I started.

Welp.

They never said it would be easy
