Hey everyone this is a ROADMAP post which means you can vote for ideas that you want to see sooner, this will help shape the future of the site!
This has been a long time coming, because it’s a difficult problem.
I want to be able to say “based on the stories you’ve voted on, and looking at OTHER members who voted in a similar way, here are some stories you should like!”
I had someone working on an algorithm for this with me but they haven’t come back to me at the moment, I think they got busy.
So it’s a work in progress, this will definitely happen I’m just not sure when. I might need some help with it!
On the plus side, the more data we have the better it will work, so it’s not big problem if it is delayed… it just means we get more data!
I feel like this would be really, really cool but as you described very complicated from a development standpoint.
I’m not sure if this fits in this topic, but an idea I just had: maybe for a start, users could have their own recommended stories in their profile, with a little comment section perhaps, so you can look up what other people recommend?
This is a fantastic idea! Not sure what I could add at the moment but I’ll think on it.
Would it be possible to identify the top 10 rated stories associated by genre or trope? That might be a useful function, though I’m guessing it might be a pain to sort out.

How about a feature like our What Should You Watch/Read/Listen To Next? thread - you choose 3 or 4 different stories and then it puts them side by side showing ratings and reviews, both overall and also from the people you follow. To help you decide!
