For me, it’s anything I’ve ordered since May, and that seems to line up with what I’ve seen from other people
I’m going through the old app the hard way and manually typing each things. Screenshots would just be annoying especially on the Companion Chronicles because the aren’t the actual titles and a lot of covers are missing.
You’d think they let the old app continue to work until they ironed out the problems of the new one, but I guess not
That sounds about right to me. My most recent purchase that has transferred over was from a sale in May. Anything after that is currently still missing.
I was hosted on their old servers, so when they went offline so too did the app. It feels very unthought out of a launch with minimal tetsing.
Apparently the new website is also useless for screen readers meaning it has failed to be accessible.
They are getting a LOT of negative feedback on this. I used to love BF but lately they seem to have lost their way. The whole Once and Future ‘we didn’t change the info on the website after the fact honest guv’ debacle was bad enough but this has been an absolute farce. There must be some very unhappy people at BF.
What was this?
Reading this thread and all it’s updates while avoiding ever looking at the new website, or the app, has been interesting lol.
I see the value of backing up stuff now because with zero access to anything I’ve purchased aside from like 10 releases on the old app I had downloaded I am very unhappy and annoyed. What a disastrous relaunch that seems so unnecessary tbh.
Done the same, thanks for the grand idea!
Yeah I agree, i was mocking the idea last week but now I get why.
Fundamentally I want to like Big Finish as a company. But when they do stuff like this, it makes it hard too.
I already had everything backed because the MP3 player I use is a bit funky when it comes to formatting (album names, track titles and track numbers) and I have to edit details before I can listen to any audiobook. I also have to manually add files anyway because it’s not Wi-Fi compatible. But I like it a lot more than listening on my phone (I can just press a single button to pause instead of pulling my phone out of my pocket, tapping the button on the side and then pressing pause).
I am a little concerned with the new site because I’m not seeing my most recent pre-order of August’s Sixth Doctor boxset and Susan’s War 2. Also, is August the deadline for asking about missing audios or is it the date to wait until before asking?
It’s the deadline to wait until asking - because supposedly they will have sorted it all by then, and it will save time if people aren’t asking until then.
I had a bit of a panic for a moment because my pre-order of River Song and also pre-orders of Eighth Doctor stuff are all missing on the new site, and I could find an email receipt for Eighth Doctor but nothing for River.
I started to doubt myself - did I not pre-order it? But I’ve been anticipating it for ages, surely I did??
I was about to pre-order it again, because I don’t want to miss out, and I got to the payment gateway where it said you can use PayPal and I thought aha! I’ll just check my PayPal payment logs…
Yep. It’s in there. Phew! So I still have proof of purchase in case anything goes wrong.
I can only imagine a similar thing is happening to hundreds of people.
They have created such unnecessary problems!
This is what gets me. Why didn’t they properly test everything before announcing the new website? What possible benefit could there have been?
I feel really bad for everyone behind the scenes who must be scrambling to make things work, but it could all have been avoided!
1.21Gb??? Well that’s me totally %^&U*Id then! Even downloading a few 500Mb files at a time and then syncing them to my OneDrive crippled my bandwidth - let alone the increase in storage space it’ll need. What on Earth are they thinking here?
Well I’ve had an email back saying that I should wait until the weekend is over so that everything is transfered over to the new website. Incredibly frustrating.
A week without Big Finish scarcely bares thinking about. I just want to listen to Deathworld
Yeah, but all that should have been finished & successfully beta-tested before anyone even THOUGHT about setting a launch date!
I had started, but due to bandwidth issues, it would have taken me weeks if not months, and they only gave us a few days notice!
Check to see if your local library has any Big Finish. They might have some CDs or some on a digital service like Libby.
If you have a laptop, then your local library might have free Wi-Fi available that you can use.
