People pirate Big Finish anyway by letting customers own the downloads. But I can see why.
It’s just if writers sell their audios, you can’t buy them at the stall if you want to own it digitally too. You’d have to buy it again at BF.

I believe BF have, in the past, given downloads to people who have purchased CDs at their conventions as long as you had proof of purchase.
I know I should back up all my downloads but I have never got round to getting a hard drive. Probably should. (Cue all the techy people telling me off…)

I just reasoned as long as I get a hard drive by 2030 (when BF have to go and get the audio rights for the ranges I have), that’d I’d be fine by then.
And then they go and update their software and now I just have to hope

New site is live for me.
They still don’t show actual release dates for past releases, just months. That’s the only change I really wanted lol 
I’m going to wait for things to settle down before doing my password reset.

New site live here too, but it keeps crashing - poor BF servers haha I don’t actually hate it as much as I thought I might, it doesn’t really look like much has changed at all beyond the superficial appearance of the site

Yeah, I was able to check things out a bit and reset my password, but now it’s crashed. Looks slick and easier to navigate at least, but I’ll have to reserve judgement until I can take a proper look (and I hope all my purchases are intact, I forgot to download backups!).

So how do we go about setting up the new password?
I’ve tried logging in with my old details but it doesn’t prompt me to reset my password and when I tried ‘forgot password’, it said my email wasn’t registered on their system!!

I did a password reset ages ago. Still no email & it tells me I’ve already requested a reset so can’t do it again!

The new BigFinish site and app are online.
They’re both terrible!
I know the previous versions had zero personality, but at least it was somewhat functional. Also, love that you’ve just partially leaked the cover art for one of the 13DAs.
Someone’s getting sacked for that!
Same goes for the leaked Fugitive Doctor cover too.

After that downed site yesterday, you’d think that they’d maybe have delayed the new site to make sure it didn’t crash on launch too.

Some interesting things about the new site which me and some friends discussed in my Discord server:
- Not seen anyone else pick up on this but doing away with subscriptions means there’s no longer any legal way to officially acquire the four doctors or the five companions from big finish themselves (not listed on the new site either)
Also some interesting things about the new app:

It doesn’t even show all the stories you’ve purchased, you have to look them up.

They removed the ability to store audios on an sd card which is pretty VITAL.

Playlists are still [REDACTED]! You can only store one audio at a time in them.

Apparently so. I’ve not tried the app yet, but two mates in my Discord server have and it sounds like a miserable experience.
Somehow worse than the new atrocious looking site.

So… trying to understand that this is indeed a whole new bit of software being developed and not everything is going to work 100% on launch day I gotta say… yeeeesh this is rough.
The website itself is fine. It’s basically a cleaner, more modern version of the old site. I don’t mind it.
The app on the other hand… wow what actually happened? Again I understand that this is basically version 1 out of how many updates they’ll do but like, the app is barely an improvement. A lot of stuff is taken away like viewing your releases by ranges or collections, viewing your releases in general (meaning I can’t see all of them, I have to manually search through them), and no more looking at the Vortex magazine. There’s glitches too, for example I’m listening to Zagreus rn for my personal BF binge and when finished downloading it’ll show the same tracks of the audio even though there should be only one. There’s also the fact that I can’t go out of the app while downloading something or else it’ll just not download at all. If you go to setting too it’ll reset how you put your release order too, which is annoying. It also seems like the features that were shown on the Apple App Store pictures are just… not there. It’s basically the same as the “Try for Free” page.
All in all, very rough start to the new Big Finish site and app. Hopefully they heavily improve it over the next month.

I would honestly say that it’s more cluttered and less user friendly than before.

Ugh oh no! I haven’t logged into the new app yet but I was hoping it at least wouldn’t be worse… Annoying if you can’t view your releases by range, that’s not useful at all if you own a lot of audios
