New Big Finish Website

Big Finish have given a temporary solution for some of the app issues that have been going on.

Down to FIVE HUNDRED!! My library is over 1000… I think I’ll cope just downloading the zip files from the website for now :sweat_smile:

I’m not sure I understand why changing everything back has caused this new issue. But, being a web developer, I know sometimes problems like this can happen, and I feel very sorry for everyone affected, including Big Finish who surely can do without all these issues!

I’ve spent most of the day on and off reducing my visible purchases from 1443 I can now refresh my library, bit of a faff but my magic number was 393!

Mine worked at 450 - it’s great to be able to listen to audios again.

So bit of a rant: I just bought a bunch of downloads and now I can’t listen to them cos the app is still timing out yes I could lower the amount of downloads I have to 500 but I’m not doing that cos I’m a stubborn mule who will not ever want to do that, I bought all 567 downloads on my own and I will not compromise with a ā€œtemporary solutionā€ that shouldn’t even exist in the first place we should all be on the new app but we can’t because ya know…

So now I have to wait daily to refresh (cos I refreshed the app a bunch of times) it when all I want to do is listen to them in the comforting embrace of my headphones.

Can BF get their act together please and thank you.

A slight work-around would be to download the files from the website and then get them on your phone - there are various apps that will play the files, keep your place, and provide options like playback speed etc (dare I say a lot of them are even better than the official app).

I’ve found Bound to be a pretty good iOS app for this. Or you can use Overcast if you subscribe and get the option to upload your own files.

There are tonnes more apps, and Android ones too, these are just ones I’ve used before.

Well if you want to cut your nose off to spite your face just out of a matter of principle, then that’s your choice. Those of us who have followed the suggested temporary fix (& many of us had much larger libraries to hide than you have) are now happily using the app again and trying to catch up on our backlogs.

BF would not have suggested this approach if they had thought a permanent solution was just around the corner. They are doing the best they can & I for one was happy to take back control and be able to take action myself to resolve the problem rather than waiting for something that may never happen.

Well Jane if BF had actually done their job and launched a fully functioning new app and website we wouldn’t be using the old website and app, this temporary fix wouldn’t be necessary and be happily going about our lives. (as so many of us have said before)

If you want to compromise most of your library that’s so much bigger than mine then that’s your choice.

I’ll end on this note as of late of all Big Finish’s actions have cause for concern and we should all be wary.

I think it’s important we keep a bit of perspective over this people. Workarounds aren’t ideal but at least BF are trying to fix their mistake and have publicly apologised for this whole mess.

Everyone, though, is going to react differently to the inconvenience of this situation so let’s please remember to keep things civil.

I don’t see it as ā€œcompromisingā€ it at all. Having a smaller selection from my library visible in the app is actually much easier to manage. I can unhide anything I want to listen to on the website whenever I want.

Yes BF screwed up big time, we know it & they know it, but it would be a huge loss to fandom if this crisis turns out to be too great for them to recover from.

As far as I’m concerned, yes they did the crime, but they have now ā€œserved their timeā€ and need our support in moving forward & rebuilding their business before it is too late - in which case we would all lose out.

How long after purchasing something does it take to show up on the app to download? I bought the War Doctor Rises bundle last night as I wanted to listen to the Morius set on my way home and it still isn’t showing up for download. I started Minuet in Hell instead which is worse than I remember :unamused:

It should show up straight away — I’d suggest you contact Big Finish because it sounds like there was a problem!

Well they’re in my account at least, have downloaded the mp3 now and will try listening to it that way.
Will give it a bit longer and will contact Big Finish if it still doesn’t appear in the app.

Also make sure you’re using the original app not the new one! The new one won’t update until they put the new site back.

When I purchase something on DL, I notice it doesn’t appear in my account for a few … very long … minutes: and then it’s there.

I usually have to pull down on my purchased list on the app. Then a thinking circle appears for a minute and so and then my new stuff appears.
