Here, I removed the site trackers from the url…
I had some of the older ranges backed up already, but there simply wasn’t time to finish everything else before the site “upgrade” as it was, since boxsets took longer than single stories.
Now that the downloads have been made so large, this is simply no longer practical at all.
I do plan on backing up things better, I do have most things already but it’s actually less about the actual risk and more about buying from a company that so clearly has massive issues right now that’s making me a bit skeptical
Uninstalling and reinstalling the app seems to have restored my missing audios.
EDIT: Just did a manual count compared to my screenshots and they’re all there!
Uninstalling and reinstalling has restored my audios, but everything’s doubled up for some reason
Just to expand on what @MrColdStream posted. They finally posted on Twitter since this whole thing happened.
I’ve still got loads of content missing, including recent purchases
Edit: tried deleting and reinstalling the app. It’s just stuck like this. Their servers getting hammered again?
Updating the app fixed it for me. I’m still missing some of the limited-time free offers (Like Oh No It Isn’t), but I’m less concerned about those since they were free
Still have no access to my account but they have assured me nothing will have been lost however it may take a few more days for me to get access due to the volume of queries they have.
What an absolute disaster
I’m still missing a few recent purchases and pre orders. I’ll wait till tomorrow and drop them an email, they’ve been pretty helpful each time I’ve been in touch.
I finally check the new site (I hate it. Modern web design is abysmal) and got the new app. I’m missing 11 stories, 5 of which were free. The rest are recent purchases.
Yeah, I figure I’ll email them tomorrow sometime, probably afternoon. I’m missing my two most recent orders which were a combination of released stuff and pre-orders. Pre-orders I made before then are showing up in my account.
So I re-installed the app and I luckily seem to have gotten all my releases, including the free ones. Unfortunate for everyone else still missing their audios
BigFinish updated their new “held together with duct tape app” and…
Well, it’s certainly the app of all time!
I’m not saying the current BigFinish management are incompetent but… if you will rush a clearly untested and incomplete website and app
Maybes it’s time for some new leadership.
I still can’t even check properly. I’ve got like 800+ releases to sort through, and I can’t even separate it by range.
So far the only one I’ve seen that is missing is ‘Chimes of Midnight’.
Seriously though, why do WE have to search through what releases we’re missing? Like this is BigFinish’s - pardon the term - monumental cock up, so surely they should be the one checking details at their end.
I think I have been spared from Sutehk’s gift of blasting audios out of existence, but I am getting very frustrated with how hard it is to download audios on the app, and the way that playlists can’t be altered or rearranged once they’re made.
I will never understand why they rolled out an app with, somehow, vastly less functionality than the old one and called it an ‘improvement’
I suspect the new website uses totally different databases, and so they needed to either update the old app or get a new one.
And the company they hired to build the new website pushed for BF to use them to build them a new app.
So here we are.
(All speculation, but I ran a web dev company for 10 years so I know how this stuff works)
And I suspect that, with Big Finish being a small company, they went with the lowest bidder. Either that or they asked a friend.
I’m sure they claimed it was because they wanted an app that would last them the next five years… hasn’t even lasted them five minutes so far, but OK.
Yet another “brilliant” - in massive piggin quotation marks - administrative decision from Briggs and Haigh-Ellery!
