On Saturday, I saw the Hamilton proshot in a movie theater, which was really cool minus the people singing along. I haven’t actively listened to it since 2021 (although I saw it on tour in 2022), and I still knew pretty much all of the lyrics.

Musicals, eh? I got the absolutely amazing experience of seeing Masquerade (the immersive Phantom production) a few weeks back and I’m still processing that experience. My husband and our roommate and I loved it so much that we are going back in a few weeks to see it again and will probably be seeing it once again in January once tickets go on sale for then. We also saw Death Becomes Her which is a fantastic time but kind of one and done for me (one of the few shows that I can say has a stronger second act than first) and Moulin Rouge which was stunning. But the clear highlight is Masquerade and if anyone is able to get a ticket, I highly recommend it as it is WELL worth the high price.

Precisely! I overheard someone rhetorically asking why they would pay $20 and not sing along, when it’s really the opposite.
A person attending a public musical showing should experience the agonizing need to sing along, and yet lip-sync while suffering in silence — if I can resist the urge to sing aloud, anyone can. 
(But also there should be more singalong showings, for people who want that experience.)

This reminds of the time me and my mom saw a local production of Anne and Gilbert. She’s from Prince Edward Island (where Anne of Green Gables and this musical takes place) and one of the songs in the show is about being proud of being from the Island, so as we were leaving the theatre she was happily singing the song to me. A man behind us taps her on the shoulder and angrily says “Show’s over lady! No more singing!” We were so shocked the man had the audacity to say that to a couple of strangers, but also isn’t when the show is over the perfect time to sing? All the songs are stuck in your head, gotta get them out somehow!

Yeah, if it’s an arena show, you can’t hear anyone singing along anyway - even though everybody’s singing along. Very different from people singing along at the theatre.

A few songs are almost hitting the spot so may need a relisten to see if they click. Didn’t know anything about this beforehand.
Went back to New York for a quick and dirty 36 hour trip. Saw & Juliet because really good tickets were ended up being super cheap ($80 for front row, far right side, technically obstructed view but absolutely not obstructed) and was genuinely surprised by what was not just a great show, but one that had me in tears because of the performances and the story being told. This is a jukebox musical done correctly.
And then we went to Masquerade again, this time with Hugh Panaro as the Phantom. I was blown away by this production the first time around and it’s even better the second time. Hugh Panaro was born to play the Phantom and relishes being back in the role. On top of that, it is wild that this 60 year old man is running up 4 flights of stairs in the span of a minute, swinging on ropes like a geriatric Tarzan in a tuxedo in one scene, laughing like a deranged goblin, and still delivering a perfect, haunting, sympathetic performance the entire time. A performance so good we had to see it again for a double Masquerade trip in January.

Wonder when there will be more tour dates announced for the UK tour of the Back To The Future Musical?
Personally I was disappointed in the initial dates. I get that they said there were more dates to be announced, but most of them were for venues down south, and there were no theatres announced in Yorkshire. It seemed a massive oversight to me to not have one of the initial tour dates be at a theatre in Yorkshire.

Has anyone been in a play in school? I did in elementary and middle school which I’m impressed by considering how I kept to myself most of the time which I still do.
