People dying in horrific ways? Reaching their final destinaton, so to speak?

Best horror movie franchise.

Well, I’d put it second after the Scream franchise but I enjoy both (and I’m not a horror movie fan generally).

I haven’t seen it yet so can’t comment about the Quality, but I am not surprised at all. The worst Part about it is that it made them a lot of Money, while the Production was seemingly pretty stressful. After all, the Change from it being a TV Show to a Film came around at a pretty late Point in Time and I cannot begin to imagine how the People behind the Show must have felt. I will probably watch it eventually when it’s available on Disney+, but I have my Worries. Hopefully that doesn’t inspire them to do more Sequels to their big Hits in this kind of Fashion!

I can see why, can’t comment on the Remakes since the ones I have seen, I dislike massively (I am looking at you Lion King). But as for the Sequels, I do think there are quite a few solid ones, even from the direct to DVD Market, (which is basically the main Source for most of them). I think Dalmatians 2 is pretty great. Going to stop here before I ramble on for too long

Anyway, been recently feeling the Need to watch some classic Universal Monster Films, watched quite a few recently, and I must admit I really like what they did with the Wolf Man, be it in his own Film or that ‘Crossover’ with Frankenstein. Oh, and watched Abbott & Costello meet Frankenstein, truly the Peak of Cinema (actually I really enjoyed it, it made me chuckle, which is rare with this kind of Comedys for me at least).

The Lion King remake is a massive waste of time and effort due to being a shot for shot remake which isn’t even ‘live action’ because everything is still CGI.

Some of the other live actions have, in my opinion, been much better than ‘popular’ opinion suggests. Beauty and the Beast managed to win over my Beauty and the Beast-loving wife. Aladdin has fun with the story and Jasmine gets a doozy of a new song. The two Alice in Wonderlands are surreal and great fantasy adventures. Mulan is very entertaining.

But the best one, IMO, is Dumbo. It’s a really interesting version of the story (which is one of Disney’s shortest ‘feature length’ animations). No one else seems to like it though.

Yeah, the Lion King one felt very unnecessary, wish they just re-released the Film instead, since frankly that would have been much cheaper for them.

I can’t really speak on most of the listed Remakes here (besides the two Alice Films, which I appreciate the different approach but didn’t really connect with them), so I can’t leave a comment on any of those. I am pleased to hear that some of them really worked! I doubt I will watch any of those any time soon, as the Remakes I watched just really left me a cold and I have a rather long (and ever-growing) Watch list which takes priority! But I will probably check out the Dumbo Remake, seems like one of those which went into an interesting Direction, so I am curious to see what they have done with it! Thanks for the recommendation!

I quite like it as well. It’s also quite different from the original. And I’m generally a fan of Burton’s movies.

Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin are fine remakes too, and The Jungle Book.

Just got done watching the mini-series called “WeCrashed” on AppleTV.

About the iconic rise and fall and then rise again of the US based “WeWork” company.

It was very good!

Aladdin is good, but it has the most woefully miscast Jafar ever. He’s so softly spoken, it’s very hard to take him seriously. I watch the live-action Aladdin and expect Jafar to ask Aladdin for a cup of tea, not try to kill him for the lamp.

Yeah, Jafar is the biggest flaw of that version. He’s such a nothing character in the remake - he is either too soft or overacting like there is no tomorrow!

This has been on my watchlist for a while. Not gory but incredibly intense psychological thriller. So well directed, especially the courtroom scenes.

Girlfriend and I watched the Ace Attorney movie on the weekend as a discord date and we both loved it. We both have AA as a special interest and saw it individually years ago, so the rewatch was a great time where we just focused on so many little details!

There’s an Ace Attorney movie now?

I knew there’s a Professor Layton one, but never heard that they’d adapted Ace Attorney.

Yep, there was a live action one in 2012! Directed by Takashi Mike. Really recommend; we rented it off Youtube

Interesting. I had a friend who was a major Phoenix Wright fan. Not seen him in ages and no idea if he still lives near me, but he used to go on about Phoenix Wright and the Ace Attorney games all of the time.

Ah lovely! I remember really liking watching the Film, but then again maybe I am bias as I do like the Video games a bunch.
Great Flick! Hope you had a great Time watching it together

Yes!

Ooh - that looks like a good twist on the format. I particularly like the retro ‘big’ disaster.

I’m somewhat of a fan of Takashi Miike, so thank you for recommendation!
