No idea why I’m watching this, maybe just for Peter Cushing?
Watched the trailer of it and the wife was instantly hooked on watching it. So hope its good
Oh I loved this film back in the day. There is a scene with a body collapsing in on itself (as a result of the German super weapon) which I think was always cut from TV showings of it.
It may of course be something my memory has completely made up!
Pretty reliable memory. There’s a scene where they find a dead body, as you say a result of the super weapon, & someone puts a hand in its face. All gets a bit icky, very out of place for what up till then is trying to be a family friendly adventure. Feels more like a scene from a 1970s Italian zombie movie.
It was Peter Cushing’s final film. In my head canon he’s really the Amicus Doctor but has lost his time machine/retired & that’s why he knows about time travel.
Watched Mad Max: Fury Road yesterday as I’ve been feeling extremely fatigued and wanted to enjoy one of my favourite movies, and that it definitely is. Amazing from start to end, the cinematography, how its mostly practical effects, the music. Very simple plot but thats all it needs, I love the themes of this movie, the interesting world. So excited to see Furiosa soon!
I need to watch it again before Furiosa.
If I watch one I have to watch the other. This time with the commentary tracks featuring critic Kim Newman, screenwriter/writer Robert Shearman, & actor/writer Mark Gatiss.
I should be eating Sugar Puffs lol
I can’t pick between these movies, I love them equally
- La Haine (Hate) (1995)
- Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969)
- Hot Fuzz (2007)
- Семнадцать мгновений весны (Seventeen Moments of Spring) (1974)
- Megamind (2010)
- The Gentlemen (2019)
- Pacific Rim (2013)
- Джентльмены удачи (Gentlemen of Luck) (1971)
- Rango (2011)
All different genres and different countries, but I love them all
“Do you have it in you to make it epic?”
Well the answer is yes. Loved Furiosa. Pure cinema. Need to see it in IMAX.
Great you enjoyed. Sadly, I didn’t(
Watched Wish tonight which is nowhere near as bad as reviews lead me to believe.
I’ve been meaning to watch this but got put off by the reviews. I’ll give it a go at some point
Wish isn’t bad, but it’s pretty average to me. The songs don’t stand out, the thematic elements are familiar and the story or characters aren’t particularly fresh. Then again, it was meant to celebrate Disney’s 100th anniversary, so perhaps it was all meant to be somewhat familiar and safe. But it’s not a bad movie!
Thanks to it being featured on Best of the Worst recently, I revisited The Baby this weekend. It’s a fun '70s psychological horror thriller. It’s trashy but actually fairly well done considering.
I love The Baby. One of the few films that deserves to be known as a true cult classic,
Also love RedLetterMedia.
The songs are weird in that they seem to want to be classic Disney but modern sort of R&B at the same time and none of the songs ever really took off. That said, I’m a sucker for an ‘everyone joins together to sing in defiance’ kind of ending so loved the climax.
It won’t ever be a high ranking Disney but the reviews would have you believe it was the worst thing to ever come from the House of Mouse - but then I always take ANY reviews with a pinch of salt having been in reactionary Doctor Who fandom for far too long where way too many people seem to want to be a bit too sanctimonious towards people who are just trying to tell a story - and that’s from both sides of the ‘woke’ brigade.
i forced my older sibling to sit down and watch the Doctor Who TV movie with me a little while ago lol
Did they like it??
Yeah we had fun! It’s a good movie to watch with friends because of how ridiculous it is haha
