K9 - How?!?! Why?!?!

Just finished Black Hunger and I think that one was definitely a low, it was just kind of boring in my opinion.

Watched K9 • Episode 1 Regeneration.

Reminded me of tv-shows aimed at teenagers from my youth (that would be the late 80s/early 90s). With this nostalgia factor in place, I thought to myself, ā€œimpressive visuals for such an old show.ā€ Just to learn it’s from around 2010…

Still, so far it is like one of those kinda hollow shows I remember.
2 boys, 1 girl; girl fancies one of them - the idiot - the other - more reasonable one - fancies her but also is maybe not the best person; the professor with the tragic background that’s hinted at… stereotypes and clichĆ©s.

And so far, I like it.

Currently, work is a little bit much and I am quite braindead in the evening. With the added sugarcoating of nostalgia for this kind of show, it’s exactly what I need to wind down in the evening.

Okay, why does a show this short have an episode that is basically just clips of old episodes cut together? Why is that even needed?

Cost-saving episode paired with a want to remind viewers that the Korven featured in one episode about 4 months prior is what I reckon

It’s not good by any standard, but there are far worse episodes in this show in my eyes :grimacing::slightly_smiling_face:

So, my wisdom teeth are out and I have started watching K9!
Ep1 Regeneration: yeah, this is bad. I know everyone said it was, but I tend to find things I like in most stories. Not here though. It’s not totally boring, things do happen. I think the main problem is that it’s mediocre in all aspects rather than totally bad in some and kinda good in others.

Oh, I forgot I promised myself last week to start watching this show this week. Well, I haven’t started yet!

I will.

Probably.

At some point.

Maybe.

Are you even a real Doctor Who fan if you do not have the K9 Badge?

You know, it’d be fun if at some point on Doctor Who, the Doctor ended up in future London, and the CCPC were patrolling the streets…

And we can maybe find out who sat in the front of the Department bus…

This is so devastatingly making me want to watch this show again… it’s like a weird addiction :sob: one of these days I really will write a K9 fanfiction, that’ll show everyone! (show them what? you ask. probably that I’ve really gone and lost it )

Which, naturally, has me picturing a K9/My Little Pony crossover fanfic…

Ep2 Liberation: while I prefer the classic model, this k9 mark III is kinda cute. The premise of the story isn’t bad, just standard, if you think about it, but it is very badly executed. The characters feel very superficial, especially the thing with the evil lady being Georgie’s mum could have been done so much less worse. I kinda like the intro

I think you’ll find it’s K9 Mark IV…

Mark I stayed with Leela on Gallifrey
Mark II went through the gateway to E-Space with Romana (and eventually joined his brother on Gallifrey)
Mark III was left in the care of Sarah Jane (and no, that’s not a Mark IV at the end of School Reunion, that’s just Mark III after being repaired and spruced up).

No idea which Mark blows up and regenerates in K9 but it can’t be III because they’re guading a black hole in Sarah Jane’s attic.

Ep3 the Korven: these episodes feel like nothing is really happening. Which isn’t quite true, and there are plenty of tv shows that have a similar level of plot, but somehow make it feel more. The ā€˜invisible forcefield’ was very silly, like you couldn’t have gotten some rope or something?
