The rules are to guess the order that the episodes will be sorted when sorting by ratings. You will start at 0 points and get -1 for every place you are wrong. The one with the score closest to 0 wins. Example: You think that Lux will be number 3, but it ends up being number 5; that will award you -2 points.
We will count the ratings exactly one week after the final episode hits iPlayer/Disney+ as the final count.
The Story & the Engine sounds like it could be something really special - Ncuti’s dream episode so he’ll be acting his socks off, and a diverse new writer means it should be something different.
Lucky Day is looking to me like another Doctor-lite episode focusing on Ruby, and 73 Yards went down really well. Also it seems like a creepy spooky one on a similar level to Midnight or Listen.
Lux looks like a cool villain and some awesome costumes oh and this is the animated one so it will be experimental. Could go either way…
The Interstellar Song Contest just sounds awesome but I think if there’s songs it might be polarising.
Wish World - the first part of a finale is always a spectacle, it’s just the ending he doesn’t pull off too good, so I expect this to do well.
I know nothing about The Well. It could be really good! But putting it here.
The Robot Revolution - the first story has a lot of pressure so doesn’t always come off well, especially if this is silly and camp like Space Babies.
In the past, series finales have had mixed responses so I put The Reality War at the bottom, though I think it looks really cool!
The Story & the Engine – this is the one I have the highest expectations for probably!
The Well – I think a bit of scary hard sci-fi will go down well.
The Interstellar Song Contest – fun and silly!
Lux – my fear with this one will be that it’ll go down the same way as The Devil’s Chord: a big and bombastic episode based around a concept (music / animation) that fails to anything interesting with that concept. But I still have hope!
Lucky Day – looks a bit spooky and fun
Wish World
The Reality War
The Robot Revolution – as people have said, RTD is weakest when it comes to finales and openers…
The Story and the Engine. You already know this is gonna be some crazy stuff about legends and the essence of stories plus stories that aren’t about Western culture get another extra cool bonus point
Wish World. This is gonna be a surprise hit i feel it in my gut. Trust. This assumption is based on nothing except that I liked TLoRS.
The Well. Scary title, probably gonna end up with me watching through my fingers, 30% of people are going to call it vague nonsense and everyone else will love it.
Lux. This one maybe should switch with Wish Well if i were wise. It’s gonna be praised for being super creative and then people are gonna go and call it tacky and gimmicky and the rating will go down a little.
Lucky Day. People are gonna realize that McTighe is actually a good writer.
The Robot Revolution. Feeling Partners in Crimes vibes qua ratings for this one.
The Reality War. I’m super excited but RTD finales statistically have not been well liked so I GUESS it’s around the bottom
The Interstellar Song Contest. No one is going to understand it but in 10 years everyone will realize that it’s a genius piece of satire
I’m absolutely going to get everything wrong assume 8 is 1 and 1 is 8 actually. I’m predicting it’s generally going to be really well appreciated, though that might be wrongly based on how much i liked Season One.
Here’s just a random guess at how it’ll shake out. Let it be known my reasoning is just total conjecture:
The Story & the Engine - Seems to be the coolest concept and I think people will enjoy it
Lucky Day - UNIT-based episodes can be hit or miss but I hope this one will help build Ruby’s character
Lux - The animation aspect is definitely going to shake things up and people are going to be impressed by the concept whether or not the story is super strong
The Interstellar Song Contest - It could really go either way but it is most certainly going to be camp. It’s just to whether people think it’s too much or not.
Wish World - The first parts of finales tend to do better, so that’s what I’m predicting
The Well - I think there’s going to be a heavy split similar to 73 Yards where a bunch of people just don’t get it
Robot Revolution - RTD struggles with strong openers and that is what I think will occur again
The Reality War - I hope it isn’t the case but the second part of finales usually tend to be underwhelming and think people won’t be satisfied
The Story and The Engine
The Well
The Intersteller Song Contest
Lucky Day
Lux
The Robot Revolution
Wish World
The Reality War
Basically, I expect the guest writer episodes to be better than the RTD ones. I expect the ones that look scary and character based to do better than the one that looks more lighthearted, which I expect to do better than the one by the guy who wrote Kerblam and Praxeus. I expect the opener to be generic, the cartoon one to be inventive, and the finale to be disappointing
