We also know that Varada Sethu will be a new companion in season 2.

And we’ll be getting Mrs. Flood, Mel, Shirley Anne Bingham, and Kate Lethbridge-Stewart, I believe?

Listed on the wiki, and one of the footnotes inked to a post on X from “Doctor Who Filming Locations” that had a list of actors present for filming one of the episodes that included Bonnie Langford.

Hooray! I can’t complain about that

RTD on Rose Ayling-Ellis:

She storms in with an astonishing performance of terror, anger and bravery in one of the most frightening episodes we’ve ever made.

I love Who when it’s scary, this is exciting for me!

Have we any updates on writers for season 2?

Remember reading somewhere that there would be four writers besides RTD.

I hope so. Season 1 was too RTD-heavy. He needs to give more space to other writers and especially some new ones!

I love that the wiki has pages up to season 4 already

Thinking about it, none of the six first episodes of season 1 “needed” to be done by the showrunner. I don’t get the rationale behind only giving 2 episodes/25% to other writers.

You’re right. I get writing the opening and finales, and perhaps an important episode in between, but give the rest to others. At least we get our first Christmas special penned by someone else than the showrunner this year.

The thing is that I feel like this also is the problem with shorter seasons. I feel like I write about this every day. But 8 episodes is too short of a season. That he wants to write 6 episodes in a 12 episodes season is not a problem but it is a problem in a 8 episodes one.

I also want more episodes because it puts less pressure on each one to be great. Doesn’t matter if there’s one or two duds in a 12 episode series but if it’s 8 episodes that’s 25% of it.

I agree with this but the problem is that one person’s dud is another person’s favourite. Look at the split opinions just on here about 73 Yards and Dot and Bubble. And lots of people seemed to think Boom was amazing and I just found it pretty middling.

At most, with 8 episode seasons, the showrunner should be writing 4

Opening, 2-part finale, and one other story

And even then I think 3 is fine, can give some of those to others (or co-write them with others)

On The One Show, RTD said season 2 is coming “sooner than you think”.

Do we think it could come earlier than last year? Maybe March??

Excited for this given Mel has been the best part of RTD II for me. Love her character because of EU and so glad she is getting a second chance on TV
