I’m really into politics, I think most Gallifrey fans are, and its one of the huge reasons I resonate with it so much and love it!
honestly the only reason i wanted to try it cause I like gallifrey as a planet and i was so happy when we got eps like end of time and day of the doctor where they do gallifrey stuff which made me happy, but from what i gather this isnt that at all and is gallifrey during the classic era,let me make a deal, ill finish this first set and if i dont like it ill quit, that sound good?
it does have like a lot of interesting lore on gallifrey and the time lords I find but it very much builds on the information from the classic era and wilderness years, yes. given that it started in 2004 and they didn’t have the rights to use the time war for a long time, it couldn’t have done anything different in that regard either. it might incorporate some newer stuff in the later releases, but I haven’t listened to those yet so I can’t say [1]. obviously it, like everything, is not for everyone, so don’t force yourself if you don’t like it, that never helps. but if you want to, I think doing the first set and then seeing whether you feel like continuing is a very good idea. and you can always come back to it later if you stop too!
also I don’t think you came off as mean or anything, we just love this series very very much and are accordingly enthusiastic about it
five days until I can start on time war guys I am dying of anticipation here ↩︎
Perhaps, if the Time War stuff interests you more you may have a better time jumping into the series there. It serves as a bit of a soft reset, so you’d be able to follow it. But if you don’t like it, you don’t have to force yourself - there’s enough Who to go round
Inquiry is much better, almost half way done
They keep mentioning Andred, did they kill him off or something? The Inquiry
Well now, that’s all part of the mystery!
Keep listening
Braxiatel,i expected more from you,how dare you! Inquiry
The Inquiry - 9/10 - This was a banger holy I really loved everything in this story and how mysterious it felt, cant wait for more.
Glad that you’ve had a revelation about it!
As sircarolyn says, Gallifrey is a political series. It’s a lot of people talking but the talking is the draw because it’s about the way politicians like Romana, Darkel and Brax use words to advance their ambitions. Leela and Narvin are the ‘lesser’ mortals who have to deal with the consequences of those machinations. There is action in later episodes but the focus is very much on politics. There’s an episode, I can’t remember which one, where I commented that it was basically just a series of two-hander scenes but every one of the scenes was a banger.
Charley has a sister,am i listening to the correct audio right now? A Blind Eye
In fact, she has two sisters. But that hardly matters in the Gallifrey series. she has a lovely (?) story with the family after departing with the Doctor in her own boxset. Definitly check that out
A Blind Eye - 10/10 - Absolute perfect, from the plot to the characters to the ending
Lies - 9/10 - Bit of a slow start but when it starts going its so great,I really love how mysterious and timey whimey this is and all the references to Key to Time is great I love it.
Okay,finished Spirit,I’d say 9/10 for me,first 30 minutes are so good,that i loved it,the whole body swap thing was pretty cool,however not a perfect story,but i still loved it.
Pandora - 9/10 - Those last5 minutes were pure perfection
im at loss at words…
There’s something so perfect about listening to Lalla Ward and Mary Tamm sparring with words
