Also,Darkel’s Masterplan
love to hate Darkel she’s such a good villain
I was rather indifferent to Darkel after watching Trial. She’s there, entertaining enough, but I neither loved nor hated her[1]. Gallifrey is where I really come to love the character as she manuevered her way into power just to come crashing down.
when you’re the straight woman moderating a sparring match between Colin Baker and Michael Jayston, it’s kinda hard to stand out ↩︎
I love rewatching Trial now with the additional context of Darkel being the way she is in Gallifrey, I think it’s so fun being able to imagine her being slimy and awful
Its funny that at the end 6 recommends her to be President.
Just what she always wanted!
Gallifrey 2.5 - Imperiatrix - 10/10 - What a masterpiece of fiction, the whole murder plot, the debate between darkel and romana 2 was great, and Romana 1 is now the enemy holy, lets hope Series 3 expands on it and its good.
Damn it guys why is this so gooodddddd
This is why this series has kept me in its claws for so long, because it really is just so damn good <3
the most important question is, of course, are you in love with Narvin yet?
after this episode,yes sure
It will always be a shame to me that they never made audios in Time War or after the Time War,like after events of Day of the Doctor.
there’s a lot of audios set in the time war actually, both of gallifrey (hence why the later series are called gallifrey: time war and gallifrey: war room) and others (war doctor, war master, the eighth doctor time war ones) so I’m not quite sure what you mean in that regard? post-time war, and incorporating more of what happened after day of the doctor, hell bent and such, I’m 100% with you though, but you never know, they might make some in the future
Gallifrey: After Hell Bent my beloved concept that only lives in my head <3
I do think a set of what infighting was going on while Gallifrey was stuck in the pocket universe might be interesting.
My concept is, broadly, reinstate Romana as president, then kind of do s6 all over again but this time it’s not ‘let’s put it all back the way it was’ but rather ‘how do we rebuild a world after a war that’s destroyed us? and also, how do we redefine Gallifreyan identity when the rest of the universe thinks we don’t exist? what does Gallifrey mean now we can’t go anywhere or hold dominion over anyone?’
yes, please I want this!!
Post-Hell Bent Gallifrey is a really interesting concept (and one I’ve been wanting for a while too – the inability to actually show the end of the Time War in BF because TV already set out how it goes does make the ranges featuring it feel a bit aimless). So it makes me wonder why BF hasn’t touched on that time period at all yet. Is it possible that the BBC is preventing them from doing it, since the TV show might see that as an era sort of concurrent with its own present one?
Just imagining Romana coming back post-Hell Bent is making me feel so emotional. It would make perfect sense narratively!! I need it so badly!
Right, like much as I’m enjoying the War Room stuff, the TW as a setting is so constrictive, especially because BF are trying to make themselves consistent with their other releases. If Gallifrey were to go on (and I obviously dearly hope it would), in my mind the only way to do it is either go back to before the War or jump forward to the HB bubble. And I think being able to give all the characters the conflict of ‘we want our old home back but it can never be the same’ would be really interesting, and we could even keep like Cresta and Eris and all those characters bc the General is very much an established character post HB. Hell, let’s even give Veklin a redemption arc… (it’s my fantasy plotline and she’s my beloved i can do what i want)
Now that we can sort by favourites I can inform you all that, as I suspected, the most favourited episode of Gallifrey is indeed Spirit followed (and rightly so) by A Blind Eye and Disassembled
