Paul Spragg Memorial Opportunity!
One thing in The Giggle always felt a wee bit off to me - moles are super annoying to have in your garden, but I just couldn’t see Wilf, who at this point has trouble walking, go around actually shooting those moles.
But now it makes sense, it’s not about Wilf at all. It’s about David Tennant.
I his first appearance as the Tenth Doctor in the little minisode, he utters the words “Love the Mole” (about a mole on his newly regenerated back).
In his last appearance (for now, who are we kidding?) he again “Love the Moles”.
I don’t have anything clever to say with that, just an observation
Today on Microsoft Teams, two of my co-workers recounted being taken to the local jail on field trips in elementary school. One of them then clarified, “Just a holding cell, not like, county.”
To which I, of course, replied:
It was one of my greatest gif replies ever, honestly. Sadly, none of them knew the reference.
Aaah, I’m still waiting for a chance to drop that line as a response to someone in a conversation (outside this forum that is).
It’s made harder by the fact that 99% of my conversations IRL are in Swedish or Finnish, so dropping random lines in English might sound a bit weird to the other person, especially if they don’t understand the reference
This is somewhat random, but the talk in the forum reminded me of this weird dream I had two years ago in which I went to the Doctor Who on Ice show. I got to meet Paul McGann for an autograph afterward (he did not have a line, as he was not a well-known Doctor actor). As the name of the show implies, the performance consisted of various Doctor Who related interludes performed on ice skates, the details of which I do not entirely remember. I think there was a Twelve and Clara scene, as well as the appearance of the TARDIS. Unfortunately, I missed part of the show, due to being chased by an angry woman. Managing to get into the meet and greet line for McGann did improve my mediocre show experience, though. The next morning, I discovered that I had a fever, so I suppose it may have been a literal fever dream.
Really wanted to show off my silly Twelfth Doctor (specifically based on his appearance in The Lie of the Land) plushie and wasn’t sure where else to put him! Got it custom-made off an Etsy shop some of my buddies recommended. He’s very well made and I love him very much.
Here’s a bonus image of him with my other blorbo plushie:
Welcome to all those that found this place thanks to the flyers given out at The Stuff of Legend Live event.
Goddamn it, after mentioning it as a half joke in Bill Filers Mission Reports, I now actually want to go and rewatch Zygon and have a go at trying to novelise it
The thought just keeps coming back to my head about how much wasted potential it had. Granted I don’t write too well, but still hey, it’s not hard to improve the film
Oh also on a completely unrelated note, thinking of doing a watchthrough of some spooky episodes in the week running to halloween next month, will probably do a post a day and make threads for them if anyone else wants to join in
I’ll definitely need a copy of that
And definitely, go watch Zygon
If you do, maybe it will be added to the site as a variation of the movie? And I will surely read it! Haven’t seen rge movie yet, though. That’s a whole different project. I can’t take too much weird DW at the same time and I still need to cool down after K9!
This sounds like fun, count me in!
To be fair, if I do, it’ll be basically fanfiction, and if we start adding fanfics to the site things get very tricky
Yeah agreed, fanfics are out of bounds, that would be a whole other 10,000 stories…
Well, isn’t the movie sort of fanfiction as well…
It’s not that it would be an original piece of fanfiction, if it’s an adaptation of an existing piece of work. And we’ve been doing those!
You definitely could argue that, but it’s licensed where a novelization wouldn’t be
Yeah, fanfiction shouldn’t be in with official stuff. You could, of course, create fanfiction.tardis.guide, and have a place for us to post fanfiction if you wanted…
If fanfiction.tardis.guide existed, no doubt we’d all fill it with our love letters to K9
Yep. And the opening to K9 is practically the opening of every fanfic ever anyways…
This could be a fun watch party on the Discord!
