No don’t get me wrong , I love seeing my favourite characters on the screen again. But RTD kept doing that way too much. First Jodie regenerated into David Tennant , Donna came back , did I enjoy their reunion? Very much! I love their friendship. But then other characters came back and were pretty much wasted by RTD, and now Ncuti regenerated into Billie Piper :sob: I don’t know what to think

I am going to continue with positive takes. Something that I really like about having Billie as the Doctor is that she genuinely loves the show. I have, in some interviews, felt like Ncuti seems a bit too cool for the show; this will not be the case with Billie. It might just be me trying to find positives with a great actor leaving, but I feel like Billie will be an amazing ambassador for the show.

OK, still a lot to process. Anyway, I’m NOT full on downer. There were a number of things I enjoyed about the episode. That said, overall, it didn’t quite work for me. I’ll do the pragmatic thing and take from it what I enjoy rather than focusing on the elements that didn’t work in my opinion. It is my least favourite episode of this season which has, otherwise, been very strong.

However, I’d like to join the legions who are saying: Soooo happy to see Jodie again! Of all the Doctor’s to bring back for that scene, it was so very right that she got the chance. She was simply marvellous, and I’m not ashamed to say I miss her. I think a lot of people really missed a trick by being negative towards 13. She was, is and ever will be…

Also, I have zero problem with Billie Piper. After all, why would I object to such a fine actor (and she’s certainly racked up a hefty haul of awards over the years) being cast in my favourite show, potentially to play the Doctor themselves? In short, quality as an actor has to be paramount to me. Moreover, if she is now the Doctor, I’m so happy they’ve gone with a female Doctor again. It would have been very easy, following all the noise from certain quarters, to simply go back to very conventional casting and play it safe. Whilst this is arguably stunt casting, it certainly doesn’t strike me as playing safe. I respect that so much.

I would, however, really hope that our next Doctor stays around for a bit longer. I think stability is needed right now, and a face that the public can really get to know and get behind. Ncuti’s been great, but two short seasons - though longer than Eccleston’s run - actually feels like less. We need a Doctor back for at least three seasons.

Oh, and I’d like brilliant, quick thinking intellectual Doctor back please. Fast lines. Genius. And, above all, investigative. Rein in the excess a little. Scientist. Investigator. Genius. That’ll do.

Hmm… I appear to have written more than I expected. I’m sure I’ll have plenty more to say in due course.

Some people say she was more like a ā€œDoctorā€ in this but I’m confused…Because she was still very much in character , she acted exactly like how she would in her era. :sob:

Yeah Billie has always been a great figure in the fandom, she’s always had that sort of real casual, one of the peeps vibes, she’s pretty down to Earth.

I don’t think she’s playing the Doctor. It just said Introducing Billie Piper. They should do some de-aging & she is playing herself during her pre-Doctor Who pop career & dances around the TARDIS to Because We Want To. A song that seems appropriate as a theme for all RTD2s awful decisions.

I actually laughed when 15 told 13 ā€œI’m surprised it’s not the other guy , he is always turning upā€ :sob:

Genuinely this line of dialogue was 10/10

So RTD is self-aware , but still keeps doing it :sob:

Yeah the joke is undercut a bit by Billie Piper…

I’m still working out what I feel about this episode. There are so many thoughts buzzing around in my head. Also I have a feeling that whatever I think will have been said already in the thousand or so posts that are already in this thread! I will post my thoughts eventually and I’ll probably repeat what others have said, but I may well still feel the need to say them as well. Apologies in advance.

Billie must be in the running for actor who’s played the most (named) characters in the show.

Not sure anyone has commented on this particular thing yet, but I find it absolutely hilarious that Russell asked for the sonic screwdriver to be redesigned to look less like a gun, only to have Fifteen defeat Omega by essentially whipping out the BFG from Doom and blasting him with it for a full ten seconds not even eighteen episodes later - just really bizarre mixed messaging to me.
