Dark Gallifrey

I’ve created a specific thread for the War Master trilogy.

Continuing from the discussion in

(and repeating what I said there)

We know it’s going to be 8 parts

  • 1 - Morbius
  • 2 - War Master
  • 3/4? - Missy
  • 3/4? - Goopy Snake Master
  • ?? - The Monk
  • ?? - The Nun (potentially Monk and Nun could be a combined trilogy, but I’d assume separate from the way they’re given equal weight in the trailer)
  • ?? - ???
  • ?? - ???

For those last two I’d say the biggest possibilities (in order) are (mostly what’s been said already)

  • Omega
  • Rassilon
    • I’d say these two are the most likely
  • More Masters
    • Given it’s almost half masters anyway, I’d assume not them though
    • In order of most likely to least (in my opinion): Beevers, Macqueen, Gatiss, Dhawan, Simm
  • The Rani
  • The War Chief
  • Borusa
  • Tecteun

What I’m most interested in is what other parts of the Whoniverse are going to get crossed over into this

Definitely the Gallifrey cast, probably some more Doctors (wonder if they’ll bring Nine in to give him a Master story), Susan maybe?

Who else? Torchwood? Jackie Tyler? /j

That would need to end with a memory wipe because Ten has no idea the Master survived when he first meets him in Utopia

Eh, make it a pre-Time War Master (like Goopy Snake), so he assumes they died in the war

The Ninth Doctor did meet an incarnation of the Master in Once and Future (and made for a nifty reunion for Eccleston and Gina McKee) but yes, a Ninth Doctor story with a full-on evil Master would be great.

I just don’t think Eccleston is back any time soon, unless he secretly recorded it ahead of his temporary time away from BF.

Colin will almost certainly be in one, I think Paul too. Jo Martin is hugely likely as well. Whoever they are, more Doctors are a certainty.

I echo what was said upthread, that when it became apparent Dark Gallifrey is an actual place I sort of lost more interest in it. The Morbius trilogy was perfectly fine and I did enjoy the galleon (which other releases are making use of too) but after 6 hours I’m still just baffled by the whole thing.

Not in a good, intrigued way. Just searching for the point. I know it’s early doors relatively but like I say, 6 hours should be long enough for me to feel like I’m in safe hands. And I currently don’t.

I’m not writing it off by any means and I’ll see where the range goes with interest. Where we are right now though is a bit shaky for me.

I’ve been viewing it like an anthology series more than as an ongoing story. From what Big Finish have said, it feels like it’s mostly just a vehicle for these more experimental, writer-focused trilogies. As far as I can tell, the titular Dark Gallifrey is basically just a springboard to launch ideas from, rather than an overarching narrative

Or you could have it be the Sam Kisgart Unbound Master
