Having experienced the ‘random characters’ mileu of Once and Future, I’m wary but Lisa Bowerman can do very little wrong in my eyes and I’m intrigued by Captain John being involved.
The whole Dark Gallifrey thing hasn’t particularly stirred my interest but I imagine I’ll get my hands on them eventually.
I’ve been wanting to order Dark Gallifrey for a while but the price for the bundle is a bit steep, but with this announcement I’m really motivated to save a bit for it. And finally a story with the War Doctor and the War Master! So exciting!
I’m a little annoyed that they’ve hit dartboard territory this quickly, but I like the direction the story seems to be going, and I’m always up for more of the Unbound Doctor (hopefully this is a better “final performance” than Once and Future)
totally, I was quite disappointed with the Unboud Doctor in O&F so hopefully this will be better, and putting him with Benny definitely seems like a good move - at least those two together make sense! I can even to an extent understand the War Doctor being in this what with it being about the War Master.
As for James Marsters… well, that is an interesting choice for sure.
This was the only DG trilogy set I had any previous interest in and I must say I am intrigued, but it does seem a little like they’re going to spin the BF character tombola going forward. We will see, I suppose, and the first DG trilogy seemed to get very good reviews which is heartening.
Meanwhile I am still sitting here in the ‘’‘regular’‘’ Gallifrey corner sadly waiting for any news at all that isn’t lol we pushed it back again
Definitely interesting. I got the 2024 bundle but am waiting til Morbius Part 3 drops before bingeing the whole thing. From the previous information they’ve released, I didn’t realize Dark Gallifrey was a physical place, I thought it was just an overarching title because we were dealing with evil Gallifreyans.
Some friends of mine - including @TheOnestOfNerds and @OctaviaTheNerd - convinced me to purchase the first two Dark Gallifrey mini-series.
About halfway through ‘Morbius: Part One’ and I’m absolutely gripped. Also, Samuel West has such an incredible presence - listening to him whisper into the ears of Veritas sends chills down my spine.
Was honestly reluctant about purchasing the Morbius trilogy because the two-parter with him, the Eighth Doctor and Lucie was very middling.
In the middle of Part Three and the hints we’ve gotten about Dark Gallifrey being an actual place are quite interesting. Makes me look forward to the War Master trilogy more. Might even have to listen to them as they come out instead of waiting til the third one drops. Plus, the War Master set has Benny and seemingly a showdown between the War Doctor and War Master which is something I’ve been wishing we’d have gotten with John Hurt.
Ooooh, imagine the amazingness that would have been Derek Jacobi going up against John Hurt two legendary performers, locked in battle. That would have been epic!
I believe there is a reality out there where this happened. Those fans are so fortunate!
This is in the cast list of The war master one, and sorry, because I’m not the most experienced listener out there, but is it usual that the TARDIS is voiced?
I wasn’t overly excited for Morbius when it was announced, so I waited until all three parts were out to listen to it. I had a blast. The War Master ones intrigue me far more, so I listen to them as they drop.
Also, despite being mentioned in the description, Jacobi isn’t on the cast list. Is this going to a thing where the highlighted “main character” is barely in the first part of their trilogy?
I got much less excited about Dark Gallifrey when I realized that “Dark Gallifrey” wasn’t just a title, but a diegetic MacGuffin people are actively looking for. That’s pretty bloody bad.
I think it’s used to excellent effect in The Sky Men, which is one of my favorites. It really sells him as a monster when those farmers come to bother him.
