As I remember, another example would be Psycho, where the blood in the shower scene was actually chocolate syrup.
That is an approach certainly.
Carole Ann Ford is a must then if they go with The Dalek Invasion of Earth!
Susan and 15 in the Memory TARDIS? Yes please
How about a bunch of Daleks giving commentary?
Finally a use for the Rainbow Skittles Daleks?
I reckon that Tomb of the Cybermen would be a good choice. Much of it would need a limited colour palette. It introduces a companion to the TARDIS and is a season opener. It also includes the second-biggest monsters in the show, and it’s a second Doctor story which gives a greater variety to the colourised stories.
This is a really valid point. We all have our preferences and even I would agree they didn’t get it quite right in the final product, though I do find it tremendously enjoyable in a different way to the original 7 episodes, and that’s worthwhile in my book.
This was their first attempt at something like this. It’s much more than a simple omnibus version (I generally am not a fan of omnibus editions so was surprised how well this one worked for me) and much harder to achieve with the extent of cuts necessary to get this down to the length they wanted. There’s always a learning process and I’m sure that the “The Daleks” was a huge learning curve for the team. They will be aware of some of the gripes. I’m sure we’ll be debating how successful they are with the second story they are cutting down/colourising but I’m equally sure that we’ll all be watching (as , it seems, will a good number of more casual viewers too, which can only be a good thing).
Off-topic, it occurs to me that it’d be really fun to have Missy giving running commentary on 3rd Doctor episodes featuring the Master…
If they did “The Dominators”, that is absolutely what they should call it, with the subtitle: “Quarks, DESTROY!”
Missytery Science Theater 3000
I could imagine 15 getting more emotional than any Doctor (other than perhaps 10) at being reunited with Susan. Would be beautiful to watch.
Let’s face it, there will be tears
(I’m joking, I actually like how Ncuti cries)
Hmm I actually think Matt Smith or Peter Capaldi would have been better choices for a rendevouz with Susan if we are going for emotional impact.
Both of their Doctors really doubted themselves and who they were, whereas Ncuti’s Doctor seems much more self-assured. There must be a lot of guilt in the Doctor in regards to Susan which I kind of think would be better handled and acted out by 11 or 12, compared to 15 from what we have seen of him
Then again, I would still love to see Susan come back as long as the script does their reunion justice
It really, really, really surprises me that Carole Ann Ford hasn’t returned bearing in mind who has in recent years and considering that, let’s face it, she isn’t getting any younger and she’s the final remaining link to the first story (Waris Hussein excepted). Two BIG anniversaries have passed and she has always seemed up for it. I just don’t understand why neither Chibnall nor Moffat went there (I’d far have preferred her to be curating the gallery than bloody Tom Baker). And RTD teasing her was just weird enough that I suspect he has a plan to bring her back but I just don’t know why they would drag their heels on something like this.
Oh, that would have been fun!
I don’t know… she is a Time Lord, after all.
Don’t tell me you wouldn’t prefer to first have a regeneration scene with Carole Ann Ford before she handed the baton on to a new incarnation
Yes, then can we draw a line under all the old nostalgia & move on!
If only we had a recent season of DW that set up her returning that ended with a scene where the companion is reunited with family that could have parallelled perfectly with a Doctor/Susan reunion…
what a pity that would never happen!
