Me: oh why does this music sound so Counter-Measures? (has it on the brain because Hugh Ross is in this episode)
Looks on Tardis Wiki: music by Nick Briggs
And so it all makes sense AND itās a dalek episode. Why am I surprisedā¦? (#193 Masters of Earth)
(sorry not sorry this thread is just becoming a stream of consciousness of all my thoughts )
So i ended the stories with 7th, Ace and Mel a while ago. That last trilogy was definitely the standout all their adeventures, very specially The Quantum Possibillity Engine which was a complete blast through and through. Iām confused as to how this ends their adventures together. Mel doesnāt stop travelling nor they imply she will anytime soon. Iāve looked in other places to see if the continue somehow (definitely not in MR) and i found nothing. Anyone has a clue?
My next thing in there will to get in the storyline with 5th, Tegan, Tourlough and older Nyssa. Already listened to Cobwebs and iām very intrigued.
Also listened to Memories of a Tyrant and Emissary of the Daleks with Sixie and Peri, itās great to hear there are in a great place together where the fully embrace each other.
Just finished the Five goes back to E-Space trilogy and it was fine. The first two episodes, kind of dull, but I thought the third one picked up again, even if the resolution to the Older Nyssa arc was a little bit silly and the narration by each character was a little trite
Iāve been enjoying following along with the Audio Club on these. Did a quick glance and it appears that the earliest Iāll get to one I havenāt heard at some point is when we hit #90 (Year of the Pig), and after that #109 (The Death Collectors). That said thereās a lot before these that I havenāt rated because itās been too long.
Halfway through You Are the Doctor and other stories, and the title story was pretty fun. Must say though, I am waiting for another story thatās going to knock my socks off - the last few have been middling to good on average (which letās be real, for the MR is a big win), but yeah. The last one I really, really enjoyed was We Are the Daleks and Iām not so far off The Peterloo Massacre which by all accounts is excellent, so looking forward to that.
Not looking forward to four Five stories on the bounce though unfortunately I tend not to get on super well with Five on audio, I find him a little tedious more often than not.
Just finished Aquitane and Iām startled to find that I seem to be going against the common consensus because everyone seemed to love it but I could not have been more bored if theyād tried. It was one of those quintessential Five on audio stories, and I guess they just donāt do it for me. Also PLEASE can we stop giving Nyssa diseases already this is getting so incredibly dull as a plot point
Oh man The Peterloo Massacre really is good. Very harrowing. Very good though. Not at all usual for Paul Magrs but very interesting - itās not often I care for pure historicals and I wouldnāt want one like this every day, but it is one of those ones that sticks with you, I think
I finished the Older Nyssa arc a couple days ago. As a whole i think it was delight. The main drive is to explore this TARDIS team as we didnāt get much on TV. They do fantastic things with them, exploring many dinamics and go in depth with each character. Not all their stories were great, i find that in their second trilogy they star to get a bit boring but that doesnāt last long. A couple of meh here and there but mostly satisfactory. āPrisoners of Fateā was my favorite of them all for obvious reasons and i cried a bit listening to their final audio. Quite a sad ending.
Agree, I found the Older Nyssa stuff to by and large be very compelling. Certainly one of the more interesting things theyāve done with her character on audio.
Just finished The Star Men, and I donāt know if it was being delighted by my friend the Large Magellanic Cloud and the actually reasonably accurate use of astronomy words for a change, or if it was actually just a good episode, but I thoroughly enjoyed that. Didnāt particularly enjoy Matthew Waterhouse trying to sound like a younger man but, nothing can be perfect
Finished Alien Heart/Dalek Soul last night - the best part about doing all this sewing is that Iāve smashed my way through a load of audios while Iāve been doing it. Anyway, AH was kind of whatever but DS I was very impressed by. Iāve definitely got a case of Dalek fatigue, but this was a pretty interesting take on them, and more so on Nyssa. It was a good bit of character work for her, who often sorely needs it.
The worst bit about smashing through loads of audios is how behind I am on writing reviews
YAY Iām on Time in Office!!! Itās my Leela <333333
And Iām only 1 off getting my ārate 1000 audiosā badge () so after Time in Office Iām considering blasting through a short trip just to hit that goal
iām not too far into this range
iām up to the Genocide machine
The first few werenāt great - Phantasmagoria being my least favourite largely due to a young David Wallams doing his silly comedy show voices. Whilst the fearmonger and The Marian Conspiracy have been really good.
