Definitely check out the Audio Club then, there’s a thread for each Main Range title up through Seasons of Fear (#30) where you can our thoughts and give your own. There’s also the review function on the Guide if that’s more your style.
Up to Ghost Walk, and this one is pretty intriguing so far. And there are a faction of people who are always clamouring for the ‘good old days’ of BF when they tortured all the characters all the time, so hanging Adric and dunking Nyssa as a witch fills that niche lmao
I always love a spooky one!
Yah that one was fun! Felt like an episode of The Omega Factor so I was enjoying myself hehe
Dhawan is really good in that one as well
Up to The Helliax Rift - feels like this Daniel Hopkins is the next go around for Will whasisface, but fortunately I think he is a little less annoying. I have no idea what’s going on in this story tho, I’m very intrigued
Just finished The Dispossessed (which was fine, and I’d probably have more to say if my brain had any energy to write a review) but guess what that means… NARVIN NEXT!!! I am SO excited I love The Quantum Possibility Engine
Delighted to announce that QPE is exactly as silly and fun as I remembered Always happy to get a bit of surprise Narv too. Next up, Warlock’s Cross, which means that after this, aside from UNIT: Dominion, I’ll have completed all of Klein’s stories
Just finished Warlock’s Cross and, eh. Daniel Hopkins hasn’t particularly inspired me and Klein didn’t really do a whole lot for me either. This one just felt like it wss going round and round with no real purpose
Confession time: I’m actually an Iris fake fan and I’ve never listened to Muse of Fire before just now. And I enjoyed it a lot I love Iris and I love Panda and something about Paul Magrs’ writing really works for me so I always enjoy his stuff
Haven’t listened to any audio recently (that may change tomorrow since it’s a holliday here) but I just wanted to shout I MISS THE MAIN RANGE.
Had a bit of a MR break since Muse of Fire because a. I’ve been on a Benny binge; b. I’m sad I’m getting to the end of them; and c. I don’t want to buy the handful I don’t have haha
But I am off to Iceland today with The Hunting Ground. I know nothing about this one but I think I’m tentative going in because I have liked so few of the MR cold snow murder stories, and I hate it when the Doctor is companionless. Sorry Mx Dr Who, I don’t like this series for you, just for your friends
May I suggest another range as a replacement? It’s called Gallifrey and it’s really good! It’s sort of a slow burn, but if you like political intrigue and scheming and thrills, you might like it! Romana and Leela are awesome, and I can tell you that even if you might doubt whether or not you could love Narvin, you will eventually see why he is such a loveable bugger!
Omg what a good suggestion! I’ll be sure to check it out! But idk about that Narvin guy, he seems kind of nasty and shady, are you sure I’ll like him
Listened to Devil in the Mist in the airport and on my first flight. It was a story. I’ve heard decent things about the Kamelion stories but this was just so nothingy to me. Maybe it’s because I’m tired and sad and at the airport so I wasn’t giving it my fullest attention but it neither entertained nor bored me. It just sort of existed.
Think I might catch up with 8 on the next leg.
Part 2 of the Kamelion trilogy was much better - Black Thursday was very excellent. I liked what it did for Kamelion and found it to be a pretty interesting exploration of grief and coping with it. I also just like it when DW is sad and hits hard I guess.
Power Game was basically just fun and I liked it
Kamelion trilogy conclusion: overall good! It wasn’t my favourite ever, but I felt the last episode was satisfying. The middle duo - for a change - was the best of the three releases.
Onto the Mags trilogy. Is it this one or is it another Psychic Circus trilogy that was quite universally panned? Because if it was this one, I don’t think I agree. The first story was decent, but I really liked The Moons of Vulpana. I don’t think I followed it as well as I should have (true of The Monsters of Gokroth too) because people kept interrupting me, but overall yes. I did like them both.
The Mags trilogy got more brickbats than bouquets. There is a single Psychic Circus story with the Master who shall not be named.
Yes, I thought it was this one that everyone hated which is why I’m confused. It’s not that bad.
I quite like it tbh but I always wanted Mags as a companion
Just finished An Alien Werewolf in London and it felt to me like it had all the hallmarks of a John Dorney script, so I was surprised to see it was Alan Barnes. I love a bit of silly vampire action, so I should have liked this more than I did, but I felt every part got weaker and weaker and in the end it kind of fizzled out. I don’t think this trilogy deserves the utter panning I’ve seen it get, but I also don’t think it was as brilliant as it should have been.
