Everybody is entitled to their opinion… but yours is wrong
Honestly, out of everything I have read/watched/listened the only story I’ve rated 0.5 is Stranded 4.4 Best Year Ever. It disappointed me so badly, for so many reasons. But thats spoiler territory, really
Well I suppose it will be an agree to disagree situation we have on our hands here good sir
But I don’t think I will change my wrong opinion on this particular piece of…
Same, that’s one of my 0.5 stars as well, and I must confess most of Stranded averages at about 2 stars for me
My other 0.5s are Legend of the Sea Devils, Can You Hear Me?, The Return of Doctor Mysterio, Sleep No More, Kursaal, The Talons of Weng Chiang, and The Deadly Assassin - all for various different reasons but mostly all boil down to I was bored beyond belief
These are my only three 0.5/5s for right now. All three for being weird and misogynistic (although Nekromanteia also has the crime of being so boring it basically immediately erased itself from my memory). Out of these three Deceit is definitely the best written technically and it did have an interesting premise but it just made me extremely angry with every decision it made (specifically, I was really really not a fan of Ace nearly being sexually assaulted multiple times and it being treated as a joke. At least I knew that sort of thing was coming in Timewyrm Genysys, I had no idea for Deceit).
I guess I just really need personal individual story reviews here on TARDIS Guide to become a thing so I can describe in detail why The End of Time is the worst episode in Doctor Who history and prove to everyone else that they are in the wrong for liking this story
Seriously the Master was served a whole chicken/turkey and didn’t get cutlery and yet everyone around that table looked aghast that he ate it with his hands… What did they think was going to happen?
Well as it currently stands we’ll hit End of Time at the end of 2025 in the TV Club, so you can always rant your heart out then.
Oh I intent to
Absolute slander of LOTSD… and during Lesbian Visibility Week too, smh /lh
My average is 3.19, and I definitely have a tendency to rate towards the middle more than I probably should. Honestly my ratings are just not super consistent. I’ve tried to make some kind of rubrik for them but I just never end up really following it that well so it ends up being really dependent on how I’m feeling on the day I rate something
Yeah! Makes a big difference to me too, some days I’m just feeling meaner than others and rate more harshly
Same here. Sometimes I rate stories and, some indeterminate number of days later, I’ll come back and adjust them higher or lower.
Same. Or after a few episodes I’ll get a baseline for the series etc, and adjust.
If I’m unsure of what to rate something I also will frequently let existing biases take over a bit and be like “Well it’s somewhere around the middle-ish… it has my favorite Doctor so let’s say 3.5!” But that’s ok because they’re my ratings and they’re allowed to have my biases.
There have been multiple times where I’ve noticed a ranking on a story and wondered what I could possibly have been thinking when I rated it that
Or knowing you’ve ranked something, looking back a few weeks/months later and not even remebering what it is. I’ve done that too may times with books on Goodreads.
I’ve rated most of the classic series off of my memory. The rest that I’ve rated has either been recent listens and reads, or ones that have been a while but that clearly stick in the head. If it’s been long enough and I can’t remember it clearly enough, I don’t rate it until I can reevaluate it. Collections and boxsets are the worst because even if I were to use my Goodreads ratings, that rating is for the set as a whole. There’s a lot of 9-13 that I haven’t rated because it’s been too long.
It looks like my only two 0.5 star stories are “A Fix with Sontarans” and “Unbound: Exile” which feels fair.
My only three 1 star stories are “Scardey Cat”, “War of the Daleks”, and “The Battle of Ranskoor av Kolos”
God Exile is so bad, I put it at 1 because at least the performances are pretty solid thoughout, but honestly I think if you didn’t have pre-2005 Tennant clearly just having a fun time being in Dr Who it’d absolutely be a .5 for me
At the risk of causing a riot:
My 0.5 TV stories:
My 0.5 audios:
My 0.5 books:
And there are a few short stories as well.
To be fair, both The Space Pirates and The Abominable Snowmen are likely to shift on a rewatch but my last watch of Snowmen bored me absolutely rigid (before the animation was released).
