I’ve went slightly (majorly) overbudget with my Big Finish spending this month, but I’m very tempted to get All of Time and Space as my last one until the next wage. Does it follow on from the greatness of Geronimo?

I’d absolutely suggest to anyone who hasn’t listened to the Benny NA’s to give it a shot. It’s one of my favourite ranges that Big Finish have put out.

I haven’t tried The Eternity Club yet, but I recently caught up to Volume 7 and the increase in quality is honestly superb.

Volumes 1 and 2 are pretty good, albeit mostly standard affairs with Benny getting caught up in the convoluted plans of the Seventh Doctor and Ace, along with returning villains in the Daleks and then Sutekh, although the standout stories are mostly relegated one per volume being The Revolution and The Eye of Horus in my opinion, but the sets are still very good!

The gears really start to shift with Volumes 3 and 4 with the introduction of the Unbound universe, and most importantly, David Warner as the Unbound Doctor who is simply brilliant! While the quality of the stories steadily increases from the previous volumes, again I find myself drawn to just one highlight per set, these being Planet X and Asking for a Friend, especially the latter, which is debatably my favourite story of the series.

Volumes 5, 6 and 7 however is where the series really shines. It’s here that the chemistry between the Unbound Doctor and Benny is on full display. I love especially the cover of Volume 5 as it tells you everything you need to know about these two. She’s a plucky, adventurous go-getter, ready to leap into danger at a moments notice. He’s an elderly grump with little patience for anyone not as smart as him, but his hearts are always in the right place. They are so different, and yet I can’t imagine them without each other.

The quality also soars to its peak here. I don’t usually like to use a rating system when describing my opinion of something, but I will here for the sake of simplicity.

In Volume 5, Clear History is the only story I would rate below an 8/10. In Volume 6, Have I Told You Lately? and Inertia are both solid 9/10s, with the former debatably being a 10. In Volume 7, Wulf is a definite 10/10, with Ubermensch following it up with a 9.

Just tremendous stuff from the whole team, Benny and the Unbound Doctor over the course of those five sets managed to become one of my favourite pairings in the entirety of the series.

My apologies for making this an pseudo review, but I feel so strongly about this series, which I began almost ten years ago when Big Finish announced the return of Sutekh, that honestly I implore anyone with even a fleeting interest to give it a chance. It is so worth your time. I came for Sutekh, but stayed for Benny. Lisa Bowerman has certainly made the character her own.

As for starting points, I’d say the best course would be to leap into Volume 3 and explore the Unbound universe with Benny and the Doctor. It’s an absolutely wild ride with plenty of wit, humour and snarkiness between the two leads. People who are hesitant to leap into a series with no familiar characters however would enjoy the first two volumes with Benny joining in on the misadventures of the Seventh Doctor and Ace. Sutekh in particular has a fantastic return. It will do wonders for anyone who still has a bad taste in their mouth from Empire of Death

Absolutely. I’ve realised I don’t have either of the Stories so Far which seems a massive oversight on my part so I’m definitely getting that for a tenner!

And now to resist Aliens Among Us 2 and 3 as I haven’t even listened to 1 and I’ve had that on my shelf for a number of years now without listening to it.
