A general discussion thread about the novelization. It came out in 2023 after being delayed in 2022.

When the novel got announced back in 2022 I was really excited since it’s one of my favorite episodes. I got it in Christmas 2023 and instantly started to read and finished it very quickly.

I love the novelization. The novel did good at expanding the actual episode. It didn’t feel rushed. The flashbacks were great with showing us the entire reason behind why the rebellion started in the first place. Clyde was an interesting character and he grew on me as the entire flashbacks played out. His death was similar to what I had imagined when piecing things together. It was rather heartbreaking.

Overall it’s a great book with lots of new stuff so it doesn’t feel like it’s the episode but in written form without any changes. What are your opinions on the novelization? Did it meet your expectations or did it fall flat?

I quite enjoyed this and mostly agree with you. It isn’t one of my favourites of the revived Target range, but it’s very solid and made for a good read. I absolutely agree about the flashbacks and their value in exploring motivations.

Can’t believe it’s been this long since I made this topic. Considering posting some of my thoughts about this whether it be about the characters to what if certain things happened differently [1]

  1. the latter could also be in the fan media category or another topic but this topic also seems fitting ↩︎
