As a massive fan of the Fugitive Doctor, you’d think I’d love a TV series about her.
But I really don’t want that.

Granted with Fugitive there is more scope than say, an 8th Doctor one, but still.

Personally I don’t think she was ever meant to be solved. Her character was a plot device, a cool one but nothing more really. Like War Doctor.
Let BF do all the spin-offs lol

I think that there is a big difference between War and the Fugitive. We know all we need to know about War. We know how he started, we know what he did, and we know how he ended. We also know how he affected 9 to 11 after that.
We don’t know nearly enough about Fugitive to make her interesting. We know that she might have been (or less likely will be) the Doctor and that she is a fugitive. That is not enough to make her an interesting mystery. It also makes the BF spin-off kind of pointless. They can’t advance the plot too much, but they have to do something with her.

Well I for one would love to have some more answers to the Fugitive Doctor and her work for Division alongside Karvanista.
And I would like for that to be on screen either on the main show or her own TV spinoff rather than in EU media like Big Finish.
Audios are good but for me personally I really enjoy the visual elements.

But in the context of the tv show & the continuing adventures of Doctor Who. What do we need to know about Fugitive? The occasional cameo aside, why does her story need to carry on?
As for the BF spin-off. As much as I see Fugitive as a character that served a function within the Chibnall era I’m enjoying more adventures with her. This is down to the strength of Jo Martin’s performance & charisma. I don’t personally care about getting answers to who she is/was etc. In fact invariably when a big mystery is resolved its never as satisfying as the curiosity & speculation. I’m just enjoying a new Doctor having adventures with some new elements (Cosmo) added.

I think this exactly. We don’t need to know the Doctor’s name either.
Not every mystery works when solved.
What we have here is a cool new incarnation which can be explored any which way as long as an element of mystery remains. Just like any of the other Doctors.

It would be great, but its just unlikely. I think we’re super lucky to have BF, in general not just this range specifically. I do hope we get stories with her and Karvanista and/or Swarm/Azure, that’s at the top of my wishlist for her range. I think come the second set we might get more of a feel of what this range is trying to go for, the trailer has me really intrigued!

I don’t think that we need to know exactly when she was; that was only a small part of her mystery. But I do feel like we needed more than we got. My thinking has always been that she was supposed to be picked up during S13, but then COVID happened. You said earlier today that we don’t need more mystery boxes, but she was and is one that we never got an answer to. I feel like, except for Jo Martin’s charisma, we know almost nothing about her, and to me, that was super unsatisfying.

I don’t think that anyone is disagreeing with this. That does not make it less valid to want more Fugitive on TV. These statements are not conflicting.

True, but the difference for me with Fugitive is that I feel she has served her purpose. I don’t need to know any more (BF spin-off not withstanding). For me its different to RTD giving us Mrs Flood every week or now adding ‘Poppy’ to the show 
It all comes down to how we personally respond to the character of Fugitve I guess. I’m fine with what we have.
I can only imagine what it would have been like if we’d had the internet/social media when Logopolis was broadcast. There’d be so much fan debate about The Watcher & probably a BF spin-off!

I think that this is what I disagree with and why she did not work for me.
For me, it is too early to tell if this will work this season. I have stated here before that I think the biggest problem with this season is that Mrs Flood and Susan Twist are too similar. But we will see how the season ends.

Something that I think is interesting about the Fugitive Doctor’s story that we know so far, and something vastly different to the current Doctor, is that she loses.
She choose to chameleon arch herself and hide on Earth because she cannot escape from the Division.
I feel like that could make a great 5-part series, a bit like Children of Earth, with things getting more and more difficult for her and ultimately having to decide to sacrifice her memories and her life really.
A talented writer could make that super interesting.
